Post like this make me laugh, because PG hasn't ever had a trade like that as GM of the Habs. Some poster says here comes Penner, and ppl think that who PG wants just because a poster mentioned his name.
Even when PG traded for Kaberle, he didn't trade anything away, heck his when ppl first heard Cammy got traded to the Flames, everyone said, hereee comes Stajan, because that is the type of trade PG would make, look at how that turned out.
I said that's a PG type of move because, like I said, the guy wants to get bigger, wanted Penner so much last trade deadline, and doesn't shop much of his guys to get the best value possible.
I like it too, but I think we could have gotten more if PG would have shopped more. That's what pisses me off about him. Dude is so focused on some of his mancrushes (Penner last year, Bourque this year) that he won't shop his guys around more.
Well the truth of that we will never know. I also wanted more in return for Halak and Kostitsyn but we didn't. Some say he tried others say he didn't talk to anyone else but that team he was making a move with. We will never know, but I sure hope he does talk to other GM's and see what he can get for certain players. As for Cammalleri, I honestly do think the Flames wanted him back and it was a perfect fit and trade for both teams
I'd rather keep Kostitsyn!! He's getting better every game...Penner is past his prime and his best years are far behind him!!
Kostitsyn is willing to take a pay-cut to stay in Montreal....that alone deserves a contract extension IMO....and his play has been solid all season long. He's a keeper for sure.
Gauthier's MO is to trade for prospects. Look at Eller, Shultz, Palushaj, Bournival, Holland, Mitera, Blunden.....
I am expecting our fire sale to yield a few picks but mostly prospects that the Habs brass likes.
I would think LA is looking at Kostitsyn and/or Moen, with PG targeting one of their top 10 prospects coming back the other way.
I don't want to see Penner in Montreal, especially if the cost is Kostitsyn. The man injured himself eating pancakes for **** sake.
And even worse than Penner is Justin Williams, it'll be a cold day in hell before I support him being on this club. Yeah, I'm still bitter about him taking Koivu's eye, probably always will be

No, he wasn't drooling for Penner last year - one of many dumb rumours started by a speculating "journalist" that later becomes "fact" in the message board world.
The Habs weren't after Penner last year and certainly haven't changed their mind this year.
Don't really see anything I'd really want from LA except the unattainable (Richards, Kopitar, Doughty etc.). Not a Penner for nor a Williams fan. Clifford would be good though. Cant see them trading him for Moen or Gill though.

Penner makes 4 mill and is a UFA after this year, unless there is some massive piece coming in with him there is no reason to trade for him. Akost is a better player who already said he wanted a deal even with a hometown discount. Williams is someone LA would want for the playoffs so that is kinda out aswell. I suspect we are either aiming for a high pick or prospect from them.
