But then Canada might invade the US for not having the ASG in Canada every other year.

Just think....12 years of being constantly maligned, and all it took was one playoff series against a Canadian team to silence all of the doubters forever.

So how many days in advance will I need to get into the Green seats line for this game?

I'll have to try to scrounge up some money to grab a few tickets to this.

Very excited to have this event coming to Columbus.

I'm gonna try to get tickets to both Super Skills and the Game itself.

When did we become so hated by the league? What did we do?

Most fans are fine with Columbus. The vocal minority who post that kind of stuff on the mains are more interested in 'burning' other teams and their fanbases than the game of hockey.

The ASG will be awesome. A chance to boo Jeff Carter in his first game back in Columbus.

Maybe there should be protests every month. Just the threat of a protest has moved mountains.

I really don't think it's a coincidence that this was 'leaked' the day before the protest.

Great news for Columbus! Can't wait to see renewal package as I'm sure the only way to "guarentee" ASG tickets is to renew (I find it insulting they still list playoffs as a perk of being a STH, what a joke!)

For those of you on twitter, Nick Alberga of NHL Home Ice on Sirius XM, just said that it's awful that the NHL ASG is going to Columbus. May want to let him know your opinion of him. He's @thegoldenmuzzy

Keep it simple. I'm thinking "All Star city, Bush-league management"

This is great news and surely the timing is not a coincidence.

Right off hand, you should be glad if you are given the chance to get tickets. National demand after full season ticket holders could eat up what's left.
I'm pretty sure it would be like that for every sport. I just can't see a season ticket holder with seats on the 50 yard line in the lower level for the Colts having those same seats for the Super Bowl next week. It just doesn't happen in any of the major sports for their major events.

Let the haters say what they want. We represented this city well at the NHL draft, we have a beautiful facility, and we are reasonably located for national fans.

As far as the ticket issue, I am sure that the CBJ will give full season tickets holders the opportunity to participate in different events throughout All-Star weekend to make up for a potential ticket shortage.

And, as far as that goes, some of the other activities and competitions are probably just as fun, from an in-person spectator standpoint. The game itself will be full of TV stoppages, corporate types, and poor fundamental hockey. The skills and other stuff could be great fun.

I've already had the conversation with the Jackets marketing folks who told me that if/when the Jackets host an ASG I won't get lower bowl seats. Just another example of the Jackets disrespecting long term supporters.
In the PSL TERMS AND CONDITIONS, it specifically states:

"Licensee has the exclusive right and obligation to purchase the season tickets for the Licensed seat(s) for all home games of the Franchise, subject to compliance with the applicable deadlines and other procedures established by the Franchise from time to time. Home games include any and all pre-season, regular season and post-season (includes Stanley Cup) games of the Franchise played at Nationwide Arena, but do not include any all-star hockey games, collegiate hockey games or any other non-hockey related events that may be held at Nationwide Arena."

The NHL runs the All-star game, not the Blue Jackets, so this is one issue that people shouldn't be upset at the CBJ over. The NHL gets to determine what seats they want for their VIPs (promotions, sponsors, executives, players family, etc.). They then tell the CBJ what's left for their use.

I won tickets to 2004 NHL All-Star game and skill competition in Minnesota. I felt slightly guilty to be able to attend both events after learning that the Wild season ticket holders were only permitted to attend one of the events. Based on the reduced number of season ticket holders, I imagine CBJ will be able to accommodate all full-season holders and most partial season ticket holders with event tickets. They just may not be in their normal seats.

Some of the real fun was the side events anyway. The NHL has their "NHL Fest" with trophies, games, vendors, player autograph sessions, etc. that everyone can attend. St. Paul created an "Ice Palace" which was awesome and featured a concert from Bare Naked Ladies after the game. They also had the Mall of America as a nice side attraction. I guess my concern with Columbus is what the city can come up with as side attractions to offer the out of town visitors a memorable visit.
