Caps will likely have two picks from 12-20, might be good partners for a trade down from the Top 10?

13-Hertl or Faksa
18-Frk or Kerdiles

Well the obvious guys of course like Grigorenko,Faksa,Pearson,Maatta,Finn,Yakupov etc.

But I am REALLY happy to see Lukas Sutter on the roster. He would be an amazing 2nd round pickup. He is big, can score, hit and his skating has gotten better.

I really think that Team Red is going to win, Look at the D !

Say we sit in 8th, trade down to 11th and still land someone like Girgensons. Clever, no?
Depends on what my scouts are telling me. If they think the 3-4 guys are close to equal, sure. If they think there is one guy who is clearly ahead of the others, I take him and move on.

Gotta trust the scouts, thats what you pay them for.

Re the other centers Gaunce and Girgensons, I'm not sold on them. I rank the 3 of Faksa, Girgensons, and Gaunce in that order. I've not seen what I need to see of Gaunce for the kind of player he is supposed to be. I have not seen Girgensons in full flight so his skating, to me, is a mystery.

Maybe I'm out to lunch on this, but I get a good feeling about Faksa. The goals he scores, and the plays he makes make me think that he'll be able to do that at the NHL level sooner rather than later.

If we have a chance to draft Ceci and pass we would be making a mistake.

Another guy I like is Slater Koekoekk.

I was thinking about a similar scenario but it will depend where we end up. At this time, the Caps would only move up 5 spots and I don't think that's worth an extra first rounder. Maybe #13 & 48 would be more of a possibility. Mind you, there's still a long way to go and I wouldn't be surprised if Montreal finishes ahead of Colorado in the standings when all is said and done.

I watched a little bit of the Sarnia/67 game and if we do in fact pass up Ceci it would be a big mistake. He really does have all of the tools to be a pro. What surprised me the most is his fluid skating and his poise and ability to stay calm on the ice. It doesn't hurt that he has a good shot too.

Subban-Ceci
Gorges-Beaulieu
Emelin-Tinordi

I have to agree I've seen Ceci a couple of times now and have been really impressed.

If he drops a lot I'd be surprised, seems like a lock for a top 10 pick although there are other guys said to go high I haven't seen at all so it's hard to say.

I guess you didn't see the play where he coughs up the puck to Nail who then scores on the breakaway, very Subbanesque.

So you put the 2 RH d-men together and the other 4 LH d-men together... ok.

Ceci, Dumba, Trouba, etc... they are all good picks.

But the forwards are also good picks, and it is near impossible to find a top flight centre with size in the NHL today, so I still think you have to look that way. Especially with both the team (Subban, Emelin, Diaz, Weber) and the Pipeline (Beaulieu, Tinordi, Ellis, Bennett, Dietz, Pateryn) well-stocked on Defence.

If a dman is head and shoulders above the best available forward then yes go BPA.

But if its close, you gotta take Galchenyuk, Forsberg, etc... if they are there.

I've seen about 50 of his games. A very rare mistake. Trust me.

Send a message via MSN to WeThreeKings
2nd round pick should be Ulf Samuelssons son.

Just to piss off the Bruins.

I just didn't put the effort into looking at their positions. And before saying I don't know anything, read up on facts before posting nonsense.

Okay can we stop name calling each other and go back to talking about, you know, the draft?

If we are at 8th on draft day, would you trade the pick to Washington for their 2 1sts @ 12th and 17th?

Tempting, but that high in the draft, I have to think there'll be a very dynamic prospect available, who won't be there at 12. Also, we are likely to have a high 2nd rounder, which makes me less inclined to pursue quantity over quality in the 1st round.

But then you have a Gaunce/Hertl and Reinhart/Koekkoek potentially available. Take a health risk with Galchenyuk? Try Collberg/Faksa?

Given what you've put out there,

I'd take Galchenyuk or Trouba, and just be done with it and forget about trading down.

I think those two are elite players.

If Grigs and Gals are gone, make the trade for next years draft pick, another 1st next year would give the Habs two firsts and two seconds in 2013.That could be a really good draft after all is said and done after the deadline and 2012 draft ends. The Habs could have three of each by then.GM's should always be looking to the future if there isn't any player available at present that fits their needs.
