That's really too bad, I hate it when young players are forced out of the game due to injury.

That does suck, I was always a fan of his, sure he had his faults, but he just rocked.

Another reason not to be a Blackhawks fan. Without Daze the Blackhawks are woefully thin up front in talent. If it is the case that he is out for good, a rebuilding program in ernest should begin.

That's too bad for Eric. Hopefully he will get better and at least be able to lead a normal life. Bad backs tend to never go away.

Wow. That would be incredibly sad if he could not return to the game of hockey.

Does this mean Montreal fans will stop making proposals to land Daze as their 'powerforward'?

No.

Very sad to see that the carreer of Dazé might be over. I hope he make the good decision, hockey is a nice game, but he will live with the same body for about 50 years more.. It's sad to say, but with all the injuries he's had, the retreat might be the "best" option.

Oh no

I always really liked Eric Daze, it's too bad that his career might be over, but I would much rather see him live a normal life without pain than see him continue to injure himself over and over again.

That is bad news to not only the Blackhawks, but the game of hockey. I was always fond of Daze.

As someone who has suffered from chronic back pain for years, I know what he is going through. I hate to see his career end in this way, but the pain is not worth the price he would have to pay to continue. Bow out with dignity, Eric...it's the right thing to do.

Yeah, back pain really sucks. It's a shame to see him go like this.....but if it hurts him, then he should sit out.

Isn't that just a rumour though? (since it's written in the rumour mill section)

Has there been any official word? The last I heard from the Blackhawks was that they were applying treatments for 2 weeks on Daze's back and then they would decide if he would undergo a third surgery.

Is there anything else new that isn't rumour?

It does sound like a rumor, so I wouldn't bet on it happening.

Never liked the guy one bit.

However, I symphatize. Health is so important and back problems are very, very serious. Let's hope he can be healthy, even though that means I'll have to watch him play :p

Sad to hear about Daze.

Sucks hearing about players that have careers ended prematurely.

Very sad indeed. Daze is a likeable guy and one of the few bright spots on the roster. Hopefully he has insurance; God knows Wirtz won't make good on the rest of his contract if he doesn't.

Sad news...hopefully he will be able to continue his career at some point....i's never good when things like this happen, and this season hold too many candidates for this.....Allison, Deader and now Daze.....best of luck to all of them....
