My opinion of this trade is greatly influenced by the potential moves that I hope will happen over the next month. If this is our "solution" to the 2C problem, its a huge ****up. However, if it's just injury insurance for Kruger and Bolland, then it's fine move.

Exactly.... though I do think that Kruger will need to go to the wing.

Teemu ,, do you have this horrible feeling Ruutu will be a Hawk again?

I just cant shake the feeling for some reason that Bowman is gonna pick him up ,, If so he better play with Bolland on 3rd line because he isn't better option at top 6 LW then Sharp/Stalberg at this point (I am shocked I actually am including Stalberg in that sentence)

I'm going to guess he'll go back to #11. He wore it in Dallas. All the other numbers he has worn during his career (#7, #8, and #9) are either retired or taken.

Jay Feaster.

You aren't the only one who doesn't know the names of every general manager and skimming through the posts instead of reading them thoroughly. We all look dumb at points.

Speak for yourself

Morrison's gonna look swell on the third line.

I'd like to say "think" as I don't "know" as do most of us on this board, but, hey. None of his have seen him in reg season game for us.

Im just saying, i think the Hawks are pretty happy with Bolland as there shutdown center. I think we'll see him on the 2nd line before we see him on the 3rd.

No matter which wingers are with Bolland, he will be the "shut-down" centre.

Think of it like 08-09 when Buff/Pahlsson/Versteeg was the "3rd line" yet it was Ladd/Bolland/Havlat that was playing against the other teams best players.

If the lines end up:

Stalberg - Toews - Kane
Sharp - Bolland - Hossa
Shaw - Morrison - Kruger/Frolik
Brunette - Mayers - Kruger/Frolik

The Sharp/Bolland/Hossa line will be the one playing against the Sedin's.

I not sure they want Hossa and Sharp as shut down wingers though. They even put Kruger on the second line to play with Hossa and Sharp instead of Bolland almost all year.

Bingo. They will try him at a few spots before they have to start thinking about playoff line-ups.

He's alright. Connelly I liked, but it just wasn't gonna happen for him here. Hope he enjoys the cups of coffee.

Expecting a meh third liner that can play in the top six in spurts.

About as official as it gets:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...0,677960.story

"Morrison was acquired Friday night from the Flames in exchange for minor league defenseman Brian Connelly and is expected to get a shot at center on the No. 2 line with Hossa on the right wing."

There is no doubt in my mind that Morrison can fill in at #2 C and not look out of place (unlike Kruger)

If he can stay healthy and play like he did at times last year, I wouldn't mind seeing..

Stalberg Toews Kane
Sharp Morrison Hossa
Shaw Bolland Frolik
Brunette Kruger Mayers

Then I wouldn't mind shipping Frolik and a pick to acquire a tough #3 W like Ruutu, or Morrow type player.

Thought so. Bowman saying he's a good offensive player or something along those lines shows his intentions with Morrison.

I truly believe our forward group is strong enough to win the cup if we can pick up our legit top-four defenseman. We need Gleason at almost any cost.

If Morrison flops as the #2C, Bowman will still have time before the deadline to make a move.

Still, the more pressing need has always been at defense. Hoping for Gleason, myself... but there are a few viable options besides him.

Canuck fan here.

I've watched BMO for quite a while.

You are getting a quality guy who has only one drawback as far as I'm concerned. The good stuff first: real character/team guy. Still has some good O skills and because he was the conscience of the old West Coast Express (with Nazzy and Bert) he is reliable defensively. He's still got good wheels and he sees the ice well. He can and will gladly play any position to help your team...and if you run into further injuries at center that "any position" statement includes ability to center a number one line.

And the only drawback?

Durability. The guy has spent the last few years spending significant time on IR. Hard to say whether that is a bad luck situation or an age related/length of career issue...but that would be the ordinary speculation.

Bottom line: you got a good one and you'll like him...but there is the injury factor.
