That last move Letang made would've been amazing if it went in.

Just hate Malkin even more for that move and his fat ass just standing over Henke at the end of it. Get the **** out of here you big oaf. If Henke got hurt on that, I would've burned Malkin's house down.

Wasn't there a slim chance of us getting Stamkos instead of Richards in the summer. That would've been DIRTY

Na.. He was an RFA. RIchards a UFA. There was no way in hell Tampa wouldn't be signing him.

I remember people were criticizing Lundqvist for picking goalies so early, but you gotta give it to him, this guy knows his ****!

He can scout out his successor

Too bad Crosby is injured. That would have been his to lose.

I know, but iirc, there was a TINY possibility of it. People were even saying, "if we don't get Richards, can we at least get Stamkos"

That was just a pipe dream for some posters on our board. There was never anything legitimate that linked us to Stamkos. He was never going to be moved, and even if he was, there'd likely be plenty of other teams that offered more money to Stamkos and a bigger package to Tampa.

Not really. The 7th round is a crap shoot. If you really wanted to you can give credit to whoever scouted him, but the reality of the situation is that every other team in the league all together had 199 chances to grab Lundqvist. The Rangers passed over him six times before picking him. Everyone was blindsided when he all of a sudden turned into a gold medal caliber goalie based on the lack of faith teams had in him given his draft selection. We *still* wouldn't be relevant without that absurdly luck pick. Kinda scary to think about!

Story has it the Rangers head European scouts were begging to draft Lundqvist in earlier rounds. Closer to the fourth round. Finally the guys running the board took him in the seventh round.

I guess the Rangers passed on him so many times because they didn't see him enough. Probably never had an interview with him either. Maybe a bit of a late bloomer, although he did win goalie of the year in the SEL after being drafted. (don't know the exact year.) d
Did Detroit get lucky with Datsyuk, or did they just do their homework on him, and decide to take a chance? Same thing applies here.

I think there was some agreement to let the captains draft their countrymen and team mates.
