Fly...

Leetch had Beuk as a partner but still played the PP, so I don't know if that's it.

Atlanta, it would be great for Kessel to fall, but the 18 year old's having a pretty decent tourney.

Also the other pairs are much more offensive minded defensman, I can't think of the 4th dman but Barker, Russell, and Bourdon are all very offensive minded dmen, i'd use them over Staal and Parent as well. Even thought Staal didnt get chance to get a few points with PP his job was more important with the PKing, I knew right away the 5 on 3 the US had to start the 2nd that Staal would be on the ice, and sure enough he was. Both PP goals the US scored as well was with the 2nd PK unit, Staal and Parent did there job, not sure who the other PK defensmen were.

Kessel is a dynamic offensive player. He is a rare talent. He WILL be #1 overall because of his skills, not his stats in this torunament. Kessel makes the players around him better. He is a goal scorer but can make plays with the best of them. His speed opens oppertunities for other players and makes the D back in their zone.

Barker Russell
Letang Bourdon
Staal Parent

Staal and Parent are the two shut-down guys, and I've yet to see either of them get beat one on one in this tournament. They both made everyone in the tournament look ridiculous.

The Canadians were a lot more physical and as a result received a lot more penalties - questionable or not, they managed to deal with it.

A little more five on five and this game likely isn't close.

I've soured on Kessel myself, because he's looked like this all tournament. Also you have to keep in mind in stat totals were influenced greatly with Norway's 11-2 **** kicking. I, quite frankly, hate his attitude. The interviews and the way he plays...at this point I'd rather deal with a little less skill, for a lot better work ethic and demeanor.

that may very well be so, im just saying from what i saw in the 1 game i saw him play...obviously 1 game does not a player make, but i was really underwhelmed at his complete lack of presense, and lack of hockey sense.

not even the great one would try to go one on four and out manuever all of them, he would either skate back and stick handle for a moment or 2 till his support came on, or he would dump it...thats just common sense.

That's 7-8 Vancouver time, and had the US beat Canada (or beat Switzerland) it would be Canada vs. Czech Republic at 11pm. This schedule has been set for 3 months.

Man...

Hopefully Kessel pulls a Robbie Schremp and falls to our laps. One can pray. He is immature, but he is too much of an offensive player for anyone to pass up. You can correct attitude, you can't teach the skill that this dude has. Besides, I love a player who is fearless like Kessel.

Still hoping to see a replay of the much-ballyhooed Korpi goal. Anyone got a link?

Marc Staal had an assist in Canada's 4-0 win over Finland and was awarded the Player of the Game for Team Canada!

I listened to the game. Staal sounded like the shutdown defenseman. Good job Staal.

The USA Lost...4th place finish....good work by the US putting together the team, they care more about politics instead of getting the best players and we go from the heavy favorites to not even getting a medal. Good work.

Korpi got 2 Primary assists in the game though in the 4-2 win.

Korpi ended the tournament with 6 points in 7 games (1g 5a). Not to bad.

Well, I of course was somewhat neutral on who would win today's bronze medal game, but the silver lining for American Rangers fans to take from this game was that the Korpedo got 2 assists. Anyone see the game?

Korpikoski was once again great. He was in the first line with Tukonen and Joensuu and that line scored 3 goals for us. I really like his style of play; he's hard hitter (well not very hard but can hit), fast skater and works his *** off in every shift. And he created a couple of good scoring chances in the first period too so he could have had 4 assists today.

i saw the game and Korpikoski was good. He was moved in to same line with Tukonen and they work well together.

Korpikoski was hitted in open ice with an elbow from Mueller(spelling?), Mueller was sent to showers after that.

Ugly hit and near the end of third period, Korpikoski was fine after that by the way

Well, it's clear from this vantage point that the US team would been MUCH better served having the likes of Brandon Dubinsky and Michael Sauer on their squad.
