He's a sign that a little patience can go a long way. We've seen him at his most immature attitude, cockyness and spoiled attitude. People were ready to throw him out, not only because of his play but his attitude.. A little patience... and look what we have now? Not only a great goalie but a definitively more mature person. We've given up too fast on people in this city.. NOT ONLY THE MEDIA, not only the organization, but the fans too... A little patience can go a long way.
Not only drafted under, but defended and championed by.
Personally I'm a looney who thinks Gainey did a good job (and ftr that Gauthier is not as much of a goat as is believed...underachieving is my go to explanation).
I just hope we can make Price happy here. I don't doubt for a second he would be totally cool playing for some other team. He's a sport aficionado and I can see him being quite happy with another team where he wouldn't get shat on constantly. This is the only thing that "bothers" me about him -- that he doesn't overtly seem to have the desire to be a Hab4lyfe likes some of the others. He sees it as a business and that's totally fair. He's pally with Thomas so doesn't even get too entrenched in the rivalry, something I'd love to see out of him. Again, this is not to detract from him, it's just my personal wish that he wanted to win a Cup in Montreal above anything else. The Gorges contract makes me happy since it might factor into Price's attitude towards toughing out the storms we have here, and I'm not talking about winter.
What I would give for a non-dramatic/negative media.
Apparently somehow his lack of success in shootouts has made Carey Price a bad goalie against break-aways.
This is completely untrue. He's actually one of the best break-away goaltenders in the league. It does not seem to equate to the shootout (mental). But whenever there is a breakaway in-game. Carey Price usually wins the battle.
End result: when he wasn't doing his own poses, Price didn't seem to try during the breakaway contest.
He's far from being the only one responsible for the CH's shootout woes. Our shooters never score. This team really some snipers, I can't think of any players with more of a above average shot. Kostitsyn perhaps, but its mostly a strong shot, not that accurate and not a fast enough release.
I'd say his release is pretty damn quick, but I know what you mean, SO vs in game. Eller should be one of the three ALL the time. Subban aint so bad either (remember last yeast breakaway challenge?). Gionta when back and actually when Gomez has some confidence he can pull the Saku move off. Markov and his 5 hole move used to work a bit.
We just choose the worst shooters. I don't understand it at all.
but yeah, when you have to stop Alfie and Spezza plus another, it makes our chances of winning a SO quite daunting.
Also, Price has been pretty good at in game shootouts. Also he wasnt bad last year and overall he's having an above than average year, coming off the heels of a Vezina-worthy campaign and when the team is worthy of contention, he will be there to stop the pucks, book it.
As much as the Molson Cup, is whatever, it's not like he hasn't been our best player. There's this myth that he hasn't been really good this year. Even the AC crowd say, without Price we'd be dead last. I think many performances have been forgotten due to a handful of stoppable goals (which EVERY goalie experiences...see Miller and most recently, Howard and Thomas).
