I think he goes to either Boston,Pittsburgh,or Vancouver. And they will pay through the nose to get him, but I think they'll be prepared to do that. I don't think Jeff Gorton and co are ready to start trading high end prospects for rental players (in case anyone is wondering, Jeff Gorton is the Rangers Asst GM; he's basically taken most of Sather's responsibilities).

Harrington+2nd+3rd,Khocklachev+1st,Schroeder+2nd.

That's not the right Ruutu.

I could see hin being a great fit for the Canucks. Ruutu would be that 2nd line/3rd line tweener on the Canucks but would add a much more physical dimension to the lineup.

I have to wonder if you've ever seen him play to qualify him as a 2nd/3rd line forward. Ruutu is beyond a shadow of a doubt a Top 6 player on any team in the league due to his unique set of skills.

50-60 point pace per season, tons of hits, defensively responsible.... he's got what you need to win in the postseason.

Do you really think it's far off from what Ruutu will end up garnering regardless of that?

He would fit perfectly to Boston. They are already the toughest team in the league. Add Ruutu and damn!!

obviously it will be picks and prospects and possibly a contract dump.

I've seen him play plenty. Good player. Typical second liner. Skilled offensively but inconsistent in that facet. Tough pest.

He's on pace for barely 40 points this season, though. He's a 50 point player that is an impending UFA. Will want an upwards of $4M+ on his next contract.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, but he's going to garner a hefty sum on the trade market, more than he should get, IMO.

Sounds like with Ruutu all the interested teams have made their proposals and now it is up to JR to choose one. I'd suspect Nashville, Toronto and Pittsburgh to have probably bid, but we will see. I think Nashville is a logical fit. Probably give up a good D prospect and a mid pick for him...?

Rutherford has also mentioned an interest in "hockey trades", as in... forwards that were locked up beyond this season at a reasonable rate financially even if they were "veteran" forwards. I wouldn't be surprised to see a player who has been typecast as a third or fourth line player that has some upside to him playing limited minutes on a deep unit being the target for Carolina. I would think a player like that would be of more interest at our current stage than a straight up prospect who could take a couple of years to contribute. We already have a ton of guys on the cusp of the AHL and NHL that just need roles. It wouldn't shock me to see Carolina go after a veteran provided he was locked up beyond this season and perhaps even beyond next season.

You know. Ruutu plays all positions. Center too.
Perhaps Buffalo could be interested.

Buffalo is 10 points out.

Maybe they'll be interested on July 1st.
