Travis Moen to Detroit

I saw Dreger said Detroit has been talking to the habs about getting Moen. Hes a Babcock type player (I think he coached him), solid defensively, would help the PK and is tough which Detroit needs.

Hes a free agent and Montreal is having a down year so what would it take to get him?

I was thinking somewhere along the lines of Emmerton and a 4th rounder?

Not many roster type guys would be available. Emmerton, maybe Eaves or Miller or Jakub Kindl.

I could also see them parting ways with a mid level prospect like Ferraro or Andersson

It would suck to lose Moen. I don't want him to be dealt.

Like the rest said i hope the Habs keep him but if he's gone i see some team willing to part with a 2nd rd pick to get him.

What would it take to get Fabian Brunnstrom?

A 6th round pick probably, hee doesnt have much trade value.

You might see something like Aubry (hes french too) and a 4th or something as well, maybe even a third depending on what the market is like for him.

Hes great at what he does and would help the wings bottom 6 a lot I think, but hes still a bottom 6 player and shouldnt command that much in a trade. A second rounder seems somewhat steep unless the market really drives the price up

A 2nd rounder would do it I would think..I'm with Jee though I'd rather keep him and resign him. I like him as a Hab.

no way on Jurco, but a deal for Abby might work. The Wings would have to scramble to find another 4th line center though.

The wings wont throw in ABdelkader, they want to become tougher for playoffs. Trading their only forward considered remotely tough would defeat the purpose of this trade.

Travis Moen would be an upgrade on Abdelkader in that regard, and if they got Nokelainen as well its a bonus to our team toughness. He's also much better in the faceoff circle than Abby which is essential to our teams style of play.

I'd do it, but maybe thats why I'm not an NHL GM.

Haha I love that a players value theoretically increases when talking to about a deal with the Habs if he is French.

Depends on the team. If its detroit I want the 2nd cause its likely such a late pick anyway.

If I'm dealing with a worse team I might take a 3 + 5 or something.

If Moen is made available, it sounds like there will be more than a couple of teams interested. Habs would be asking for a 2nd or equivalent in return.

Yeah the whole point of getting Moen is to toughen up the bottom 6. The wings arent going to trade their most physical, young forward for a bit of an upgrade. The wings are gonig to want both of them because they want too toughen up, not basically move laterally.

If you have one of Moen and Abdelkader on each line in the bottom 6, your bottom 6 has someone tough to play against out there all the time. By trading Abdelkader youre left in the same position as they are now

I just don't know if he is that valuable. I stand by a 3rd and a 6th or something along those lines.

by the time the deadline comes around there will be a GM of a Cup contending team that would pay the 2nd rd pick for him (ex: Vancouver)

If the Habs can't get a 2nd for Moen I'd rather they keep him and try to re-sign him.

That's for each team to decide...but Moen brings a tough two way game, excellent PKer, and played a key role in a Stanley Cup victory. Lesser players have brought back 2nd rounders in the past.
