Re-signing him is my first choice....offer him another 3 years at $1.5 per season right now. If he doesn't take it then move him.

Would Moen and Ruutu have the same value? If so, the rumor is a 2nd + prospect.

Ha yea I know Habs fans don't really buy into it, but it is hilarious.

Ruutu would have a substantial amount more value I think, he is a scoring line player and a huge hitter.

Moen is a solid physical, bottom 6 player.

Ruutuu does have more value, should be at least a first pick in return or second and mid prospect

A Chicago fan offered Bickell and a 3rd. To me that's the best offer I've seen for Moen. IMO it's overpayment and I've defended Moen since day 1.

Though, you'll see a lot of people in the coming days about keeping Moen who wanted him gone for a 7th.

Moen is a great team guy. He's great on the pk. He's a leader. He hits. He fights. He has hands to score, or set players up. He's done well in the playoffs.

Realistically and I may be a homer for saying this, but every playoff team should be interested. Though, some teams would be hesitant because of how it went down in San Jose.

No Ruutu should have more value for sure.

The term "prospect" is quite vague, but assuming a team could get T. Ruutu for a 2nd and a B prospect i'd say that would be a great move.

if I'm Detroit I give up a first rounder

Red wings probably have the poorest first round draft succes in the last 7 years

Then the Canucks offer their 2nd and 3rd round picks until 2020 to the Red Wings for their 1st round picks until 2020.
Think of all the superstars that the Wings will draft.

How many wings threads are you going to spread this crap in. The fact that they've only had 4 1st in the last 7 years and the only player you can say this about would be mcCollum just proves your lack of knowledge when it comes to Detroits prospects.

name me a player they drafted that has had some impact in the last 7 years?
I'm not a Red Wing expert, but not 1 comes to mind

1st round picks or just first picks? or just players in general?

Franzen was their first pick in 04, 3rd round though.

Guys from the 2005 draft just lost their waiver exemption last year and their first 2 picks from that draft are playing in the NHL on the wings roster which is first in the league right now with Kindl and Abdelkader.

Cory Emmerton just made the team this year because he lost his waiver exemption, he was a second rounder though. They also have Mursak playing from that draft year as well.

Brendan SMith the year after that is one of the best defensive prospects in the league.

Right now its looking like out of the last 7 years where Detroit had 4 first rounders that 3 of them will be NHLers, and that doesnt count the fact that theyve pretty much found at least one other full time NHLer in almost all of those drafts outside of the first. These guys arent impact players yet because they get brought up slowly, and have to earn their way to a scoring line. Filppula and Franzen are examples of this and look at them now

The fact that the wings will let their prospects grow in the minors as long as possible Kindl is the only 1st rounder who has had a chance so far. Not trying to start something but how many 1st rounders have had an impact for Montreal other then Max and who wasn't a top 5 pick. Detroit has traded away their 1st rounders 3 out of the seven years. The best pick out of the 4 was also #19th. We also had the 21st, 30th and 27th.

Anyways this is completely off topic from the thread.

Pretty random statement since they have the poorest first round drafting position the last 7 years. Might have more success drafting, by having less success.

Moen could well be worth the first rounder, btw...but I'd say a 2nd gets it done.
