I get so tired of these responses. just give us your scraps .. MPS + 2nd ... give up to get..
or how about this. QUIT STARTING THREADS THAT INVOLVE TRADING FOR WEBER OR SUTER. it wont happen and if it does its overpayment.. so if you dont want to overpay for the best defensive pair in the game, then gtfo
Rofl. Look at the 2005 Pronger trade.
If you don't like the thread then don't post in it. GTFO, as it were.
Its very valuable but the flames wont trade to their rivals. But at draft day the flames probably trade Iggy and Kipper for prospects and pics, but its doubtful our two all stars go there.

Iginla to Edmonton? That will start city-wide riots in Calgary.
Maybe not. But you have enough of them that it could still get expensive to pay them all. A lot of good and bad things can happen between now then however.
Lets say they all get a Tavares type contract(5.5/6 yr. which IMO is a fair comparison) So thats a 1.75 cap hit increase for both Hall, and RNH, and 4.4 for Eberle. Adding 8 million to our payroll isnt really that big of a deal. Especially with Smyths 6.25 and Hemskys 4.1 coming off this summer.
The Oilers can afford a big ticket UFA/RFA defenseman this summer
well as a fan of the oilers i wouldnt offer anything for suter.
a team like phi, couturier/schenn/jvr + 1st (maybe only a 2nd)
no way youre getting a top 3 picks for suter though.
I expect EDM to climb a little.. I see them with the 5th overall pick.. either way, suter is very valuable to the preds. very valuable.. obviously the big 3 arent in discussion... the only thing that would get suter to EDM is the 1st round pick.. unless EDM has another lower 1st round pick?
Not a defender, but I'd trade Carter for your 1st round pick. It's not quite Voracek and Couturier, but a top 5 pick is something that I would consider sending Carter for if other options just weren't there.

show me one trade like that in the past 20 years, that kind of bounty is never paid. The 1st overall pick is as valuable as any commodity, how many times have you seen it traded? You are asking for potential two of them, it's ridiculous even if Weber was signed to an extension. Suter isn't going to fetch a lottery selection as an upcoming UFA.
Would Nashville want to draft another Russian player with a top 5 pick given their history with Radulov? It would be an interesting dynamic to see if Nashville would do that again given if they got that top 5 pick for a Weber trade.

AGAIN, I'm not talking just value.. I'm talking what would it take to get them out of NSH. anything but signing weber/suter would be a huge step back not only on the ice but it would send an awful message to the NHL that NSH can't keep their drafted stud players
How many times must it be told... Teams in rebuild don't trade picks.
This.
I dont see them trading the pick away for a player. I could possibly see them trading down to the 6-7-8 range to draft one of the d-men available. I suppose that depends on where they end up in the draft
you can't compare every single trade to a similar trade of the past.. c'mon people.
one of the big 3 + 2012 1st for weber.. thats what its going to take. otherwise, I'm sorry he wont be available
Poile? I thought not.
Other posters are at least trying to be rational by providing examples of what the market could be a for either player. You seem to be having a temper tantrum at the mere mention of one of Suter or Wber being traded. FACT is that even star players dont fetch the type of return that you keep repeating. FACT is that players don't always resign with teams. FACT is that there has never been a UFA's rights been traded for a lottery pick

Could Radulov come back knowing that he will have Grigorenko as his centre? This could be something leading up to draft day if the Oilers have the 1/2 pick
Can't see the Oilers doing that unless Suter or Weber sign an extension...and I don't see either of those 2 signing an extension with the Oilers
Well I wouldn't be TOO sure that they'd never sign with Edmonton. They do seem poised to rebound. The re-build can't last TOO much longer. I'm sure they might feel a bit honored to be considered so crucial to that process that they trade a lottery pick+ for him.
At least that would be my outlook. I'd ask for a short term trial deal for like 6 or 7 million. If things don't start looking up I sign else-where.
Here you actually implied that it would take more than Hall/Eberle/RNH EDM 1st and something else

Notice the trend here? Former 1st overall + Edmontons 1st(which will be 2nd but easily could be first after Edmonton trades any UFA of value at the deadline)
Even Suters rights for a lottery pick is mental
