Nice article on Hockey Moms

qmh.goalline.ca/files/hockey_mom.doc

This was about Alfies:

The hockey mom can also be an inspiration. While growing up in Gothenburg, Sweden, Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson played for his father, Hasse. Alfredsson's mother, Margareta, was the hard-working chef, laundress, and housekeeper for her son — despite being confined to a wheelchair. Margareta Alfredsson passed along the gift of determination to her son. A sixth-round pick in 1994 as an undersized winger, Daniel is entering his 13th season with the Senators. A Calder Memorial Trophy winner in 1996 and five-time All-Star, he has made his mark with grit and impeccable work ethic, just as his mother did.
"My mother was very supportive," Alfredsson said. "She was also a very stubborn woman. I've taken that from her, and it helped my career. She definitely had a big role with me."

Regin is a pretty good two-way third liner when he is healthy. Just because Filatov was drafted 6th overall doesn´t mean he is the better player. Regin has shown a lot more than Filatov in the NHL. I hope Murray resigns him to a cheap one year contract. Low risk high reward type of a deal.

What the **** does that mean? Last I checked, he's played 151 NHL games, and you're, well, you.

Regin has lost his job here and will most likely will be resigned and sent to the minors. Murray will trade him for like a 5th round pick.

if he's healthy enough to play i think he'll be playing in ottawa. if he's not healthy enough to play then he won't be playing (anywhere) obviously.

That would not look good on Murray

It's deja vu all over again, just heard on the radio that Regin had successful shoulder surgery & is comfortably recovering. Will he be re-signed & how will his surgery repaired shoulder take the physical play of the NHL?

Ha, it would have been fitting if he could have had the surgery this coming Thursday.

Even if he does come back healthy, how long can his shoulder keep taking the NHL physical play before another injury.

I miss me some Regin

He did well in his rookie season and I thought he could become a solid top 6 forward. Sucks that he's been derailed by injuries the last two years.

I see no reason not to re-sign him. He can literally play anywhere in the lineup.

So you're saying we've found Andy's back up?

How about signing him and then send him on a loan to a swedish club. There he'll get a chance to play top-6 minutes and not worry to much about the physical play.
Then if he manages to play a season without any shoulder injuries he can be ready and fully fit for the 2013-14 season. Not sure what the rules are and if it would demand a 2year contract or if a one year deal is sufficient for that to happen. Either way he should not be rushed.

Never liked Regin, he just didn't have that consistency you would desire from a top 6. Granted he was injured a lot, but if you look what's coming in through our system currently and having Turris now on the second line I don't see where he fits.

this is just my opinion but I don't want to see the following guys back next year:

- Regin
- Kuba
- Lee
- Butler
- Auld

He won't be back this year, but I remember hearing a former player(York?Donovan?) cant remember who, anyway he said that if the surgery fixes the problem a player can come back good as new but if the surgery doesn't fix the problem it will just get reinjured again and again and would likely signal the end of his career.

Considering he's already had surgery on that shoulder. He's pretty much done.

Not necessarily, if this surgery is successful , maybe he's good to go.
I guess we'll find out when he plays next year.

Hope that it works out for him and for the Sens as well as Regin is a useful player who can probably be signed for very little.

Did our leading goalscorer have multiple surgeries on one of the knees that holds up his 225 lb body?

Regin has had 1 blip in his entire pro career... it was 29 games long. But otherwise has been on a consistent track towards being a top-6 NHL player for the past 5-6 years.

Kuba has been what... our 2nd best D-man all season long?

Regin is a good, smart, 2-way player. Why do we not want him?

B. Lee is inconsistent, but he's also one of the very few D-men we have on the face of the planet with a lick of NHL experience under the age of 31 (he's only 24). He's played almost as many playoff games as Wiercioch, Borowiecki, Gryba, Schira, Blood, Widemen, Claessen, Aneloski, Fransso and Sdao have played NHL games combined.

Butler was good and productive for 3 months last season. He's out in your eyes.
Turris has been good and productive for 1 month of his career. He's assuredly a key player on the team in your eyes.

Fisher had at least two surgeries on his shoulders in his early yrs here & he was able to recover from them. Of course, he works out like Chara.

I'd love to have Regin as the 3C on the team. It'd certainly improve our depth.

Spezza
Turris
Regin
Smith
