Yes I know, but it frustrates me to see how many people think that he is a better centreman than Desharnais.
I wasn't objective.
Desharnais is almost 4 years older than Eller. How about a little patience and let the kid develop. He's improved dramatically this season and setting himself up for a breakout season next year. Every facet of his game has improved since last season.
Desharnais meanwhile at 25 years old is having a breakout season. But lets not lose sight of the fact that he's 3+ years older than Eller.
Don't listen to him, he is COMPLETELY left field. Eller is not only NOT a defensive liability, but he has completely shut down the likes of Datsyuk, Malkin and Gaborik over the last 3 weeks. His defensive game has evelated almost Krys Draper level. As for his offense, well, you mentionned it, he's 22 years old. He has never had an offensive role and pp time for multiple games in a row, simply because Plekanec is payed 5 mil a season and Desharnais is a smallish, strictly offensive center, so Eller has to play 3rd line center role by default, like Jordan Staal (to a lesser extent, of course).
Habs simply cannot afford to lose Eller, he's not getting traded unless we're getting a better Lars Eller. If one is getting traded, it's Plekanec for a solid prospect and/or 1st round pick.
Wouldn't be too interested in Eller. Good defensive player, but I think Montreal would be asking for more than he's worth, and understandably. What would Montreal be asking for Plekanec?
Can't say but it's certainly much less than for Eller. The guy just scored more goals than Plekanec and is the new ''future'' of the club.
Anyway, you guys should offer some middle of the board picks to Habs...all they dream about anyway is making playoffs in what should be a great chance of going low to pick high (especially with this years first 5 choices).
I've never been a huge fan of Eller, but wow some of the posts in here. Worst case scenario, he becomes a solid 2-way 3rd line center, which he already is. Eller won't be a bust, he might not live up to expectations offensively, but definitely not a bust. Dude still has a bright future ahead of him.
Eller, Pac, Price, Subban, Beaulieu, Leblanc are not likely to be traded they are our the main pieces of our rebuild.
Same thing for our 1st pick.
I've heard same talks about Higgins and such, but Gainey/Gauthier didn't stick well to those sayings. So as much as we know, Gauthier is still in charge and can potentially do what ever he wants for now.
