I watch him lots, and he never changes, plays on the outside, gets lots of points, and does absolutely nothing come PO. I agree with Torts, 100%, he will go out of the league having never won anything. Glad to hear you think Krejci is a GOOD player.
I think Grabo probably will want too much as a UFA. And there's definitely no way Antropov comes back to us haha
I wish we could get Hanzal - I think he'd be great. But unless Phoenix decides they aren't making the playoffs this year I don't think he's obtainable.
When I say Antropov I mean only Burke taking a 1 or 2 year flier on him,, possibly as a #2 centerman to replace Grabovski all while providing time Joe Colborne needs to develop.
Another guy whom Burke should look at is Alex Semin. He would provide some punch on the Leafs 2nd line.

Hanzal, Colborne, Antropov would give Leafs 3 big centers
Hanzal is NOT a first line center. I can't see guys like Semin and Antropov coming in as stop-gaps either...then again BB did sign Connolly, so who knows.
It annoys me how "won a cup" is the single measuring stick so many people around here use. Plenty of phenomenal players have never won, and plenty of awful players have.

Ignore that stuff, just trolling.
I was thinking, if the Sharks did trade JT, the only reason I can see them doing so (which isn't likely anyway) is to take a run at Parise/Suter. In that situation, the Sharks would be looking to take as little salary back as possible. Very high pick in the draft, top prospects, that kind of thing.
The Sharks are historically miserable in the FA market, but just a thought.

You are right to a point, however, when speaking of players of Joe Thorton's ilk, you would expect hugh results, won the art ross, won the hart, but yet, failed in doing anything in the PO, and by that I mean anything on a personal level. As you stated there are lots of great players who never won a cup, but they were never on a very good team, unlike Joe, he needs to do more, much more in the POs to ever be considered anything other than a individual. Yes it takes a team to win, but when your "supposed" best player is a constant "no show" in the POs it reflects badly on that player. You can talk about olympic gold, world championships, world jrs, but on those teams he was surrounded with the best players, never had to "step up" but in San Jose, he is suppose to be the best player, has yet to show it when it counted.

Joe has been fantastic in the playoffs the last two seasons. Go away.
Thornton has been my favorite player since he has been traded to the Sharks. Incredible passer and has size. I would love to have a player like him on the Habs.

Well that depends on how you look at things. Hanzal certainly isn't a 1st line scorer, but he's certainly a defensive whiz. Lupul & Kessel have obvious chemistry, offensively these guys are 'ON'. Would they benefit from having a huge center who can have their backs in the defensive zone? I think it could work perfectly. The Leafs problem isn't a lack of top line scoring, it's secondary scoring that ails them. Semin is a very similar player to Kessel. Assuming Kulemin can regain form (25ish goals, plays big, protects puck, very good defensively), & Colborne can develop into a pass first defensively reponsible center w/ some scoring touch (very likely), that gives the Leafs 2 very solid balanced lines. Balance is key for a long playoff run. Kadri can help carry the 3rd line offensively, Antropov (or another big center) can pivot the 3rd line.
The Leafs are only a few additions away from being a contender. Imo Semin & Hanzal would go a long way in making them a better team.
That is .88ppg in the playoffs. That is nothing to complain about. And +- if you have never been informed is an entirely worthless stat.
He's been fantastic, and absolutely our best player, and I doubt you'll find a Sharks fan who says different. He wants to win, badly, and I think he will. When that day comes, I'm starting a "JOE THORNTON WON THE CUP SO YOU ARGUMENT IS INVALID" thread, because man does that crap get old.
Seriously man, no one cares, you are terrible at trolling.
Pretty large contrast between games that matter and those not so much.
Honestly, what does it take to get something across your thick skull?
You've been asked multiple times to stop the bashing, it's almost like you enjoy flame fests.
Back to the OP, I can see St. Louis looking into getting him if he was on the block, although not 100% on how it would affect their cap long term. They would definitely have the assets the Sharks would be looking for though.
