Who will the kings pick up at the deadline?

Mostly looking at LAs needs, UFAs to be, and a few richer targets.

I think LA goes hard after Ruutu. He is the type of player I think LA would like to add. Not to mention CAR is famous for loving reclamation projects, I think with his great season in SWE that CAR would be interested in Holloway. Holloway + 2nd might be getting close to the value CAR is going to get. Maybe another mid-level prospect.

I think Gagne's status will have a lot to do with what happens at the deadline.

If he's back, I think the Kings look for an energy guy on the tough side who can score, a Simmonds type to compliment Clifford.

If he's out, I see the Kings at least making a run at a big fish. Right now it's very hard to figure out who will be available, outside of a few obvious players.

Gagne should be waived. That's all I have to say. I had a feeling he would be a liability and that is exactly what happened. 4.5mil a year for like 4 goals and a season ending concussion which we all know he is prone to.

It will either be a home run (Carter/Parise), or it will be a player like Ruutu or Malone. Ruutu has more competition in my opinion, not sure if we will win that battle. I have a feeling that we end up with Malone, just depends on the price, because we are obviously not giving up Bernier for him.

It will either be a home run or something smaller or maybe nothing at all. Not sure which yet. Talk to me in March and I'll let you know. Is Frederik Modin available? Best deadline acquisition for the Kings ever!

He's still scored more goals for us than Pennner.

i expect small useless trades like modin and halpern type acquisitions. im convinced DL has no clue when it comes to being a buyer.

Or maybe the cost to trade for decent to good players at the deadline is exorbitant...? Like seriously, Oilers are asking for a 1st round pick and a top prospect for Hemsky. Imagine what a non-injured non-cream puff is going to cost at the deadline.

Just want to clarify I wasn't being sarcastic on that part of my post. That was a great deal for the Kings and cost the Kings salary only. But yeah, sad but true. He is one of the best Kings deadline acquisitions ever.

Oh I liked him too. I was hoping he'd stick around for the next season.

I was thinking something like this as well. Moore would do wonders for our bottom six.

Malone for Zatkoff+? Trade him now while he's tearing up the AHL.

$3.5 million a year, but I get your point.

I say Huselius (if he's healthy), Prospal and/or Moen.

I see DL going the cheaper route this deadline and picking up guys that likely won't cost him a 1st or a top end prospect. I doubt we get moen though if his price is as high as some are suggesting.

Complete dream. How often do AHL goalies net 2nd/3rd line nhlers?

People way over value goaltenders in trades.

This!

I think the Kings go for someone off the board for the Defensive unit... someone with experience and toughness for the playoffs. Almost an insurance policy against losing Mitchell, Greene or Scuderi or to give those guys a rest here and there down the stretch. None of our Minor league defensemen or defensive bench warmers can handle that role and it's an important role this time of year (at least that's what Johnny Utah would say).

I don't see the Kings trading their 1st rounder unless they're getting multiple 2nd or 3rd rounders back in the deal... Again, I'm not sure you trade Bernier with Quick's status up in the air as of July. I think the Kings defensive depth is where the deal will have to come from, which is yet another reason a veteran defenseman would be a smart deal. Just look at the sellers, anyone with a short term deal that's between 33 and 38 y/o would be a potential target.

Why are people ripping on Modin? He was our best deadline acquisition in the last 5 seasons easily!

Prospal seems the most logical.
