Cole-DD-Patch our best line in a long time...

We have to admit it, it has been a really long time we havent had such a good line with plenty of upside. DD and Patch can still be better. Do you guys agree?

Hey remember what happened to that AK-Pleks-Kovalev line?

I'd keep a cool head about this.

Remember when the AK-Pleks-Higgins line was thought of as our own version of the Penner-Getzlaf-Perry line?

Good times.

Prime Kovalev >> today Cole
Prime Plekanec >> today DD
AK > Pax

So, we can say the DD line is the best SINCE AK-Plek-Kovalev line.

Pacioretty was way way underarted on the main board. JVR was perferred over Paciorretty by a almost a 3:1 margin.

Good. Hopefully we can keep him hush hush and get a long term cheap deal in place.

Define "long time". Kovy-Pleks-AK in 07-08 was awesome.

It last for about 15 games but Tanguay-Koivu-Kovalev was a dominant line. I think they were all producing at a PPG rate (or close) when they were on the same line.

The Cole-DD-pacioretty line as way more grit then that 07-08 line. You know this year line wont dissapears when it counts.

Youre ridiculous. We finished first in the East and lead the league in goals that season. Barring an unthinkable second half by Cole, DD and Pacioretty there is no discussion

Team performance =/= 1 line's value.

Well, both the team and the individual line performed at a much higher level

11/12 Points per game:
Cole .8
Pacioretty .76
DD .71

07/08 Points per game:
Kovalev 1.01
Plekanec .85
Kostitsyn .73

No contest

Long time?

It should be noted that, to this point, that line has been almost exactly as "productive/effective" at even strength as Cammy-Pleks-A.Kost from last year.

296 mins together, +6 EV strength (+1.2/60 EV mins together)
vs
320 mins together, +7 EV strength (+1.3/60 EV mins together)

Absolutely right, but I wrote that on my phone and it seemed good at the time. So let's pretend I said:

(1 light year)/Speed of Gomez=How long ago Gomez scored.

Actually, Carbo was fired when that happened. Gainey was the one who put them together.

They played together only when Tanguay came back from injury with 16 games to play in the season (earlier, it was Pleky-Kovy and Koivu-Tanguay). But they indeed were great.

But then, Gainey decided to play Laraque on the first line in the playoffs against Boston. Laraque with more than 13min of play in the playoffs...

The Cole,DD and MaxPac line would be a great 2nd line. As a first... well, not so much.

That being said, I love the energy these guys bring. Cole has been fantastic for us and Max just seems to be getting better and better. Can't get upset at what's working. If all the guys showed up as consistently as these guys do we'd be in much better shape.
