Maybe you can remind me how many Cup rings and playoff victories Theodore has.

There is a big difference between the teams they play for. I don't think Brodeur would be so hot if he played for a team that has a defence who sometimes suck.

The Devils have 4 solid defensemen, Stevens, Rafalski, Niedermayer and White. After that they've got average dmen.

It takes a good goalie to win games, and look at all the W's Brodeur has, and it isn't just because of the team in front of him, they don't have many guys who can put the puck in the net.

You think the Devils would be as successful as they have been with someone other than Brodeur in net?

If so, then give your head a good shake.

Wheres the "roll eyes" smiley when I need him? I don't think the devils would be as good without Brodeur (they wouldn't be) but at least he has a BETTER defence than Theodore. That's my point. His defence is usually always there for him.

I guess I entered into another thread concerning

1. Theodore vs. Brodeur
2. Theodore > Brodeur
3. NJ TEAM > Brodeur

Conclusion:

x > Brodeur

I'm a big fan of José Théodore. He's the kind of guy who can steal many games all by himself, but he's not Martin Brodeur.

Agreed....though I'm not the biggest fan, I will say he is a great goalie and was given up on too soon by a lot of people....but he is not in the same league as Marty IMHO...

One year wonder may have 4 shutouts but his play has been inconsistent at best. 0 GA one game, 5 the next. I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble, b/c I really like Theodore. However, he has not shown he is the best goalie in the league. The fact is, scoring is down......again. Shutouts are almost double what they were at this point this year, then they were last year. You have to take the shutout with a grain of salt IMO. Hackett already has 2 already.....Aebischer has one. Giguere has none . Using the shutout as a standard, Hackett = Infinitely better than GIguere. We all know that this is not the case, though. As I just said, I like Theodore, and never bought into the flash in the pan mentality *although I did argue that this would hurt his trade value*. Still, until he shows he can be solid game-after-game-after-game, on a yearly basis, then he cannot, and should not, be equated with the names of Roy, Brodeur, Hasek, or even Belfour for that matter.

This was the 60th post in the thread. Just thought I'd like to point that out:p

Hey, don't fret. By the end of this season, they will be calling Marty Turco the one year wonder. Jose has nothing to worry about IMO.

You guys don't seem to understand.

Theo CAN'T dominate "game-after-game-after-game-after-game", he's playing for the Habs!

Come on! What does Hasek, Brodeur, Roy have in common? They have a great team in front of them. It's not the case of Theodore.

The Devils' defensemen are way better than the Habs' one. Stevens, Niedermayer, Rafalski and White compare to Brisebois, Souray, Rivet and Markov. Who wins? NJ all the way.

Theo is not the best goalie of the league -- but one of the best. I think he have Brodeur before him, and he's number 2 with Turco. That was my 2 cents.
