Can we please change the "Redden" to "Richards" already?

Redden wasn't horrible his first year as a Ranger, he wasn't good but he didn't suck like Broadway Brad.

I'm not blaming the SO per say, but when the Devils get a lucky break like they did and then milk the game into a SO just so they can throw Kovalchuk, Parise, and Elias at us against Biron, it pisses me the **** off. Should've never gone anywhere near the shootout, let alone overtime.

loss is bad because its the devils. this will be their biggest win of the year.

biron should be embarrassed with his effort vs kovalchuk.

And the brick of the game goes to Callahan, who tries to go 2 on 2 while shorthanded, gives it away and decides not to backcheck. Shocking behavior by Cally.

let it go.

Signing? Not a great one thus far.

That said, I knew we would lose this as soon as it went to a SO.
3 times this year he's had point scoring streaks of 5 games or more. Clearly it's time to trade him and his contract.

He's terrible in the shootout...next time you see Torts at the Garden ask him why he continues to use someones who clearly doesn't score in the shootout

Tough to be calm and reasonable after that luck, I'm trying but it's hard. Mostly my frustration stems from having to listen to Chico speak tonight. Praising Clarkson on his goal, and saying how that was the biggest win of the season for the Devils...enough to get anyone's blood boiling.

No, I agree. It's just with a lot of people calling him a bust so early into his contract is a joke. Let's see how he does in the playoffs before labeling him anything.

Ties are absurd little sideshow. I'd rather finish the game.

He also had that great diving play in OT, where he ended up in the net (don't remember if it was his fault that it was a 2 on 1 to begin with).
No he was solid all around I liked his game tn a lot

Exactly; it's just manufactured drama at the end of the game. No real relevance to the game that's been played up to that point.

Losing in the shootout doesn't really bother me. It's one game in the marathon of 82, and even though it undeniably should've been a win, this **** happens sometimes.

Real tough one to swallow. Even without the bad bounces, not their best effort at all.

Gabby, MDZ, and McD played great. Boyle played pretty well too.

The PP is becoming impossible to believe at this point. And can someone explain what happened to the player who used to wear #42?

There is a lot of teams bunched up where a tie is a good possibility. Not that I really care, anyway...the Devils aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Come on now. They were trailing 3 times and came back the final time with under a minute to go. That's a pretty nice win if you're a Devils fan. The fact that they got the 3rd goal on a lucky bounce doesn't make the win any less sweet for them. Gotta give them credit...they never gave up and found a way to get it done.

It's not like he wasn't trying. He clearly expected Kov to do something else, and got frozen. Obviously Biron played it poorly, but I'm sure it wasn't due to a lack of effort/caring.

Agreed. But I have mixed feelings on it. In one sense it is exciting and keeps you at the edge of your seat. On the other side of the spectrum it makes a hard fought game end in a skills competition.

If there is a tie in baseball they go to extra innings and the game doesn't end until someone scores. It doesn't matter if it ends in the 9th inning or 16th inning. Someone has to win. It would be like the MLB ending a game tied after 9-innings with a home run derby.

In the NBA there are continuous OT's to decide a winner. Not a slam dunk contest.

But, then you can argue that the playoffs would lose one of its primary draws (continuous OT) if it took place in the regular season.

The Parise goal was just obscene and an absurdly lucky bounce did us in. Can't blame Biron for that. You can blame him for Kovy's shootout goal though.

I'm probably the most calm person on this board after losses, but this game really hurt to lose.

3 blown leads. 2 preventable goals, 1 ridiculously lucky bounce, and a brilliant game that ended with a damn gimmick. I've made it clear even in WINS that I hate the shootout. I got railed one time for not being satisfied for a shootout win (I think it was Jonathan. chastising me ). It ruined a great game of hockey. I'm not ******** about the Devils winning, they did not play as badly as some of you say. They had numerous shifts of excellent possession, they created several good chances, their defense (only the defenseman) were horrible. They capitalized on this, several times, actually, but Brodeur came to play tonight. He's one of the reasons this game went to OT (the save on Richards with about a minute remaining sticks out in my mind).

Gotta forget about it, though. Come out with a vengeance against a soft, struggling Sabres team.

This is the problem I have with shootout wins. It only matters if you're tied. They should change it to a 3-2-1-0 point system. Teams that win in regulation should receive more points than teams that win in a shootout.

I'm fine with the shootout I just think OT should be 10 minutes instead of 5. You cut the shootouts to half with 10 minutes of 4 on 4 play.

If I were Torts I would have put Callahan out there in the shootout. You know he would have been hungry to make up for that turnover. But as much as I love Torts I'm never happy with his shootout lineup/order.

Not heartbroken over the loss. Gotta lose some rough ones every season no matter how good the team is. It took the Devils playing some of their best hockey + an off night for Biron + a miraculous bounce to steal a point.

negative. it was disgusting. i've seen goalies get undressed on the shootout and still move. biron not only stood there but also gift wrapped the five hole. embarrassing.
