When has he ever made a smart offensive play or pass that makes you just say wow big time talent! I dont remember him doing it very often. That said he fits in perfect as a 3rd line defensive specialist with some actual offensive skill which is not always the easiest thing to find and he'll be very cheap to keep around and COULD still blossom further in an offensive capacity. He's not a 3 or 4 mil dollar piece of FA crap that we need to get rid of. he's also proven to have the ability to step onto any line on the team and contribute if for just two or three weeks at a time. If you can get bobby ryan sure but I dont see prospects and picks as worth jack crap compared to Artie

Be very surprised if that doesn't happen.

AA's value is pretty low right now, I can't see getting a huge return with him...best case scenario 1) if he is traded for a 1st-2nd line player he's part of a package which includes a Legit prospect (chris kreider) or 2) he's traded for another teams Anisimov. My thought's on the matter.

I think he's got a lot of skill, but he gets tossed around by players who are smaller than him. I was really surprised by the o pts in 16 GP..crazy for a player of his skill

I don't think his value is low at all. In fact, I think his value is probably pretty high. Teams are always infatuated with big, young guys with all kinds of potential. The dude's frame and skillset are always going to have value.

There's always 1 player who becomes the whipping boy. Before the break,Torts said he wanted to work AA back into the mix and give him more minutes. If Callahan doesn't cough up the puck at the Devils blue line, its a different game. Last year DZ was terrible and the Rangers should banish him. Year before it was Dan Girardi. When Fedor Tyutin was here,he was no good either. Trade Staal because he sucks too. AA-Stepan-Gaborik was the only line kept together for the nearly 2 months. They have been the Rangers best line all season. They got stale and were broken up. Playing with Rupp and Mitchell isn't going to get him going.

Where should he play, then? He was sucking ASS on the top line and dragging it down. He had to be moved.

Yep... And earlier in the year it was Dubinsky. And as I said in that thread, you are NEVER, EVER going to have every guy putting up the production that you want. If that is the case, the team will be winning games 6-0 constantly. There are going to be spells where the player does very little to nothing as far as the scoreboard goes. You just hope they have other elements to their game that make up for it in the mean time.

That's great. And most of it is true. It doesn't however do anything to get me to overlook the fact that AA doesn't have a point in his last 16 games.

I'm not a pile on the whipping boy kind of a fan. I think my history shows that. But I also think clear that AA is not adding much to the lineup right now.

And yet, he is still outscoring Dubinsky this season.

It's not a question of just production. Dubi's production has been amazingly disappointing. But he creates offensive chances and play hard. AA is not doing either right now. You said it yourself are the other elements of AA's game making up for his lack of offensive production? I can't say yes.

That doesnt mean you aren't piling on now. I dont think you've even said anything horrible yet though I will say this.

We've been improving steadily thanks to patience with youth so long as that youth (unlike a Sangs or Grachev) actually continues to prove they're worth a spot by producing even if sporadically. Without fail all of our guys have gotten better from Dub and Cally to MDZ and Sauer. I see no reason why Artie is the one guy to give up on for anything less than a huge return. in which Artie is the main component on our end. Can't think of one top line guy available I'd want to give both Artie and Kreider for though there are some I'd think Artie + would be fine. Still that isn't going to happen so any trade talk is just silly. And if we trade artie for a rental either there is something very wrong with Artie or we are making a really dumb move

the fact AA has been the invisible man for 16 games and this team is still winning shows alot about this team.im sure we all are disappointed in his dropoff lately, but remember, when he Gaborik and Stepan were tearing it up earlier, everyone loved him.hes still young,he will still have dry spells like this.its not from a lack of trying or hustle, things just arent going well for him.everyone wanted to run Dubi out of town also when he couldnt score and some probably still do,but hes been playing better(Dubi)

i have faith AA will turn it around for us and be really big down the stretch along with Richards.if it doesnt happen, then you have the entire offseason to trade him if you want.

Kid hits a slump and is demoted to the 4th line, it's not a surprise at all he then hasn't scored at all lately. He's not good enough to play with grinders and produce any kind of points

Sure, but at least Dubi offers more if he's not scoring.

It's not just points, he hasn't done much of anything lately. You'd think the guy would be flyin out there tryin to earn back a spot in the top 6,but he really doesn't seem to care IMO.

The defensive specialist argument doesn't cut it for me anymore, to me his defense is average it's just his strong suit. This team needs more out of AA, he played himself off the top line and his nonexistent compete level has deemed him useless on a line with callahan IMO. I've been an advocate of trading this guy since last years trade deadline(and his value was much much higher then) just dont see him fitting in this system long term, he's soft and doesn't compete ever, and I dont think hell be missed everyone on this team can block shots, grind, and play safe defense which is what AA does, he just gets praised for it because that's all he does...

AA has been a "potential" story for years now. Nothing really has come of him. I see him as trade bait for sure.

If there is any player whose psyche I'd worry about after a trade it would be Anisimov. I'd feel so bad for the kid. He has a protective cocoon in our organization with the way his teammates treat him off the ice.

I wouldn't agree with the idea that his value is that low. He's a young center who plays solid defense and has proven to be capable of 40 points per year with minimal PP time. His offensive upside is also still open for interpretation. He'd get solid interest around the league.

I just don't think he's as good on the wing as he is at center. Trying to wedge him into a top-six LW spot is counter productive to what he should be groomed as; i.e., a 3rd line two-way center who can step onto the 2nd line if necessary. If Tortorella prefers Boyle in that role, it might behoove the organization to see if trading Artie can fill a hole in terms of offensive punch.

He's a professional, and an adult I'm sure he can handle it.
If not he can bolt back to mother Russia, not our problem...

I still think there is an outside chance Arty is packaged with Zuke and a pick for a top 6 LW that will be undercontract beyond this yr and a depth player

crummy part is you know the guys on the team like him. The Arty gun shot by Gabs for example......its a biz though and he's on the 4th line right now.........I am ok with moving him if it brings in the right guy at the right price.

I would do Roy, Gaustad for Anisimov ,Zuccarello for example............flame away!

Love Ani, but I do have to say, he is the one to be moved at this point. His game and compete level has fallen off the map.

I wouldn't mind seeing if the pack line could jump start his game, but then the question comes, what to do with Richards.

That's my biggest gripe with him... he hasn't really improved since last season. I'm always willing to be patient with our young guys, but I feel like he hasn't taken the necessary strides in his development as a 3rd year forward.

I really don't know why you insist on thinking that Zuccarello has value.
