Toronto-Islanders

The Leafs will be reluctant to make such a move with their playoff hopes still hanging in the balance, but it would seem to be fair:

Toronto

Parenteau
Nielsen
3rd round pick 2012

Islanders

Grabovski
Aulie

Both Grabo and Parenteau are UFA forwards, smallish but competitive. The Islanders benefit from a seasoned centre iceman coming in (and hopefully resigning) for the second line.

The Islanders would make this move if neither Parenteau nor Nielsen could be signed. They would be willing to pay Grabo more money as a number two centre because his offensive production is much greater than Nielsen's.

For giving up Aulie, the Leafs get the added punch of Parenteau in this deal- which also stems the loss of Grabovski in the push for the playoffs. The unlocked offensive potential of Nielsen may be realized, and do not discount his defensive prowess and shoot-out accuracy as every point counts down the stretch.

Leafs fans may want this 3rd round pick moved up to a second.

The Islanders get a promising young defenseman and a crack at signing Grabovski- to help with the development of their two young Russian prospects.

Uhhhh, nope... Unless Snow has a behind-the-scenes-handshake-deal that he's resigning Nielsen and Parenteau in the offseason.

No interest in givng up anything for 33/34 games of Grabovski.
If the isles want him, then let them make an offer on July 1st.I have a hard time seeing Grabovski passing up a chance to test the ufa market,so he can sign with the isles.

Yup, and do the Isles need Jurcina part deux as well? Nope.

If the Isles puts that package on the open market expect a much higher return.

If I was to get rid of both Parenteau AND Nielsen...I would rather get back a top 2 Dman. We can draft our number 2 center either in this draft or hope Strome can bulk up a bit to play second line center.

Grabovski is great at using his stick carelessly. Where do I sign?

I'd love to get a guy like Aulie on this team, but not at the expense of both Frans and PAP. Don't really care about Grabovski that much.

No thanks.

Grabovski would make our 2nd line deadly. Aulie wouldn't be that great of an addition. I'm also not interested in giving up Parenteau.

I think that trade actually makes the Isles weaker down the middle if possible. Grabovski is not a better overall player then Frans Nielsen imo. At best its a wash so in essence its Aulie and a 3rd for Parenteau. Ew, no thanks.

How about we make it:
Toronto trades:
Luke Schenn

Isles trade:
Parenteau
Nabokov
Jurcina

LMAO! I'm sure every Toronto fan is saying, "Nielsen would make our second line deadly" also. He is not a 2nd line forward and won't ever be. Same complaints people have about saying that Nielsen isn't a second line center. No way is Grabovski and upgrade.
