The guy needs playing time, if he's healed, there's no point in keeping him out.

Today he's a huge injury risk, heck, we still don't even know if he'll be able to continue his career.
If he gets cleared and is able to play 2months without suffering any damage, we don't need to worry as much. A depth signing would suffice.
If he doesn't get cleared, then he remains a huge question mark. A replacement would be needed.

Even if he remains a risk, at least if he plays 2months without any damage, then you at least know he should be ready by game 1 of next year and everything should be fine.
It does change your outlook imo.
It wouldn't change mine.

The only thing that might change the outlook would be if he gets crushed into the boards and ends his career. Then you know for sure he's done. Otherwise, we just have to assume he's an injury risk. That's how we should've planned for this year and last as well btw. At least last year they managed to come up with Wiz.

Markov will be ready in 4-6 weeks.

9-10 weeks later...

Seen Stamkos ? Remember that ? We should steal it for a Seen Markov.

I think the best scenario for him is to retire. Not trolling.

But I guess he wants that cash?

Cash is the farthest thing from his mind. The guy is the most frustrated man on planet right now and he more than anyone else wants To go out there and earn his paycheck and ultimately help the team. People dont seem to care or notice they justcall him injury prone he Is our most important player behind Carey price. When hes back ( and he will be back) I got the gut feeling he is gonna terrorize this league.

Best case scenario for him is to start playing again at 100%. For HIM retiring is the worst case scenario.

I didn't say that because I Think he is injury prone, far from it.

But we lost 2 prime years on his contract, which is possibly the worst scenario that could have ever happened concerning the timing of it all. He was top 3 in the league as a defenseman before his injury. Now I'm not saying we will get a shell of the past Markov but with the time spent not playing the game I am not sure he will be close to what we had in him.

Also what happens if he does "terrorize" the league? I can honestly picture that too, along with us making a push for 9th in the conference.

As far as im concerned his imminent return isn't a good thing. Unless he puts up the points and we still finish with a lottery pick which I don't see happening.

Sorry I should have specified, it's the best scenario for the team going forward.

He's more important than Price. Habs always find good goalies, they've been good in that department well before Price (Halak, Huet, Theodore). But for Markov, Habs were never able to fully replace what he brought. No matter who's the goalie, Habs are a 100 points team with Markov in the lineup on a full season. But when he's not there, no matter who's the goalie, we've rarely managed to be that good.

The last game against Washington, TSN showed a stat that with Mike Green WASH GF/GA difference was 3.70 for and 2.00 against. Without him it was basically even. The impact on a game a number 1 dman has is huge.

Losing the best dman we have had since we drafted him is our best case scenario? I guess Vancouver should have cut ties with Salo and the flyers should ask Pronger to retire.

Nice work.

Chances are the Flyers are not going to have to ask him.

wooooooooot, best news of the day, markov is skating! On a human/personal basis, I am really happy for him, it's a big relief for him, guys just imagine the pain and the depression the guy had to go through. Getting back on the ice, lifts the morale. Markov is a good guy and deserves good things happening to him. From the team perspective, no comment

Is anyone really holding their breath for Markov? The guy has been injured for 2 and a half years. Really it's a non-story at this point. I don't think he'll be much of a factor if he returns at all. Nothing Gauthier says is credible when it comes to Markov anymore.
