Where will the Rangers rank at the end of the regular season?

Poll to gauge fan confidence. Do you think that the Rangers are for real? It seems that a fair amount of people on the main board are still expecting the Rangers to fall apart. Do you believe that will happen? Or do you believe the Rangers will continue to contend for the top spot in the conference and the league?

They are for real. But I expect them to slow down a bit more, though, so to will the Bruins and other top teams. I expect them to be no lower than 3rd in the conference by the time the playoffs roll around.

I voted Conference champs. The Rangers have passed every serious test given to them. It isn't out of the question for them to win the Presidents trophy IMO but I'm just gonna "settle" for conference leaders lol.

I expect us to be neck and neck for the division. I don't think we'll get the presidents trophy though. If I had to guess I would say 4th.. but I could definitely see us winning the division. It all depends on what happens at the deadline.

I think they will finish in the number 2 spot behind Boston.

I don't see Pitt as being a threat because Crosby isn't expected back until the playoffs (knowing our luck we get Pitt in the first round and we get dominated by them because Crosby's back) and Philly and NJ still have a lot of issues. Plus we've shown we could beat both of them.

I really have no idea over a long series who would win between Boston and ourselves but I think we will keep fighting with Boston until the end of the year. The only way I see FLA/WAS posing a threat to drop us to third is if we really hit the skids.

Presidents Cup trophy winners.
Anything less is an embarrassment.

If we falter badly enough that FLA or WAS can catch us, PHI and/or PIT will catch us too. That would probably leave us, at best, 5th. That would be a huge disappointment IMO.

I'd be happy with 1-4 and content with 5-8

To me series matchups mean more than our ranking

Good point, didn't put two and two together.

But I still don't think we're going to have to deal with many teams right now. Maybe PHI and PITT make a push but I think right now it's us against Boston.

A lot of people aren't giving Philly or Pittsburgh credit. Big mistake. They're gonna be BIG competition down the stretch

Presidents trophy. We have the best goalie in the world and are putting up these stats with some of our key players slumping not to mention our best defenseman still recovering from injury.

I think either 2 or 4. They won't be 3 because whoever wins the Southeast isn't going to have a better record than them. I think Boston will eventually overtake them though.

I'm going with 2nd in the conference with the Bruins finishing first. As RKY mentioned, I don't think the Pens will pass us without Sid (even though they're extremely hot) and I think this team is better than the Flyers and they have their number.

I don't care whether we finish first in the conference or win the presidents trophy, winning the division is a must. If we don't, we fall in to that 4th or 5th spot of doom in which we'd most likely face Pitt or Philly (both of whom would have a good chance of knocking us out in the first round) followed up with the good chance of facing Boston in the 2nd round assuming all the top seeds win their series. Not exactly the situation I want the Rangers facing in the playoffs.

If Lundqvist plays the way he did before ASG we are top 4. If he regresses to last season, we make a playoffs, but will be at the bottom. If Crosby comes back (looks like he had chiropractor type of injury as opposed to brain surgeon type) then division may be problematic. If Broduer is for real, like last night, division may also be lost.
Obviously, if Richards is awaken things could change, but Lundqvist is a key. The guy plays the way I have always demanded him to play, while people were saying it is impossible or it is team in front that sucks, not Hank.

I want first in the East real bad, but I see us getting the 2 with Boston winning the conference.

I could see them falling off at one point which would knock them out of contention for the President's trophy.

Holy overreaction...

Lundqvist was great last season, setting a career high in GAA (aside from his rookie year), SV% and shutouts. And NJ is 10 points behind us with an extra game played. Brodeur also gave up 3 goals and though he made some nice saves, his GAA is almost 3.
