This is the problem with every head coach? when the effort isnt there you will never get the results? The onus is on the players and not the coach when the effort isn't there. They must bring it.

We always generate chances because if our press transition. We don't always score, but we get our chances.

Some teams play a more sound game in their own zone by system...so if they don't "bring it" the system still is better defensively. When we don't bring it it's breakaways and big blown assignments because IMO we don't play a defensive system.

Mirimon,

On simmonds...IMO he's been great for a month now...always working and throwing checks and generally being disruptive.

If that guy could stick handle....

I agree that he's been strong for quite a while now. After a strong start he had a bit of a down period where he tried to do too much (he's not going to be the guy to deke around opponents no matter how much he tries...), but he's simplified his game again in the past few weeks and in doing so has been a lot better.

I just felt the need to point out that he had a strong game, despite not putting up any points on the scoreboard.

Btw, I also agree with your point about our defensive system. At the same time, you can't work wonders with the material we have. We knew going into this season that our team defense would most likely take a hit from losing so many key cogs the past couple of years. Maybe Laviolette should have taken a more cautious approach. However, when you have guys like Jagr or Brière on the ice, you don't want to play a waiting game.

Its not that I have issue with the system...I'm just saying (to anyone) dont ***** about goals against when we lost better defensive forwards and play a system not designed around defense.
