I always look for key words such as "may be" or "could be". Dreger may just be filling up some air time. This guys whole career is trying to find out inside information, I'm sure some GM's drop him some hints but who knows if it's even accurate.
Can't complain about these credible sources becoming inaccurate. We demand rumours and trade talk when it appears nothing is going on. So they say what they hear (and what we want to hear) that doesn't play out, just wait a little
I'm not sure what to make of this. Both players have been sliding this season from what I've seen (JVR) and heard (Schenn, targeted player). I do remember JVR dominating Boston in Game two of the ECSF, but then came back this year without any of the same jump. I wonder if he's battling an injury like Versteeg was when he came to the Flyers. Can anyone comment on how Schenn has been? I heard he had been down to around 16 mins a night at one point.

I've never felt Dreger had a ton of credibility to begin with, I don't know why he ever got so popular. He often leaves things very open ended, he'll say things like "Team could be interested if player is available" like in this scenario. He isn't saying anything, he is just saying one team could possibly be interested in a player if they are possibly open to be acquired.
I remember with examples like Foppa, "*Insert 12 teams here* could be interested in Forsberg. He may sign a deal within the next 24 hours, but it may not be for another week or two if he decides to come back at all"
Just my opinion, but i've always thought he was overrated.
don't quite understand the hate for Dreger. His job is to get the inside scoop on trades or make it sound like he's got the inside scoop. Either way, I'd say he's doing his job well. He's generating interest and he's getting people to think about the possibilities. Hey, even if he's just pulling this completely out of his arse (which I'm sure he's not) that's still a pretty convincing job. There are plenty of people who sit around their computers and try to come up with proposals and speculation to better this and that team. Dreger just gets paid to do it.
Even if JVR doesn't get traded to the Leafs, that doesn't mean that the Leafs weren't "in on him" exactly as he reported.
