Yeah, definitely need to add another offensive player. The lack of pure talent is still apparent.

Did you skip the 1st and 3rd?

This team plays such boneheaded hockey sometimes I can't believe their position in the standings. No team in the NHL moves the puck worse then them. Columbus moves the puck twice as good as the Rangers, I'm dead serious. Lundqvist played his best game after Vancouver tonight.

I have to say, that was a horrific game. The way we played was completely unsustainable and I'm tired of us playing down to crappy, non-playoff team's levels. I'm happy that we won, but overall this game disgusted me. There were a few good defensive plays, but there were far more lapses. Lundqvist is literally the only man that could have won that game for us in the entire league. We won because Lundqvist was 100% on AND we got lucky breaks.

1.) Lundqvist
2.) Callahan

I'm not even going to bother picking a third star.

Well that decided whether I'd fork out for a Lunqvist Winter Classic jersey.

All hail The King.

Can you honestly say in a 7 game series you think this team will lose 4 of 7? The D and G are top notch, best in the league

Henrik saved us. We did win. Gotta play better offense.

Spot on. The Rangers did not deserve this win. This was all Lundqvist.

Funny though how things even out, because we didn't deserve to lose yesterday.

Lundqvist is amazing to watch. We're all lucky to watch a career which will likely end among the all-time greats.

With that said, now to the warts....

None of the forwards were impressive, at all, especially in the third period where the team was dominated.

Something needs to be done with the Bickel situation, immediately. He cant play consistent NHL minutes, and this 6 minute a night crap is going to have an effect on Girardi and McDonagh down the road, who have been great but are playing way too much.

The powerplay is disgusting to watch. Just pitiful. Whats the downside of putting Richards back on the point? Cant get any worse.

Any chance he can raise the PP from the dead?

Richards showed some signs of life, but the offense was putrid. Buffalo played well defensively, but it's easier when the opposition does so little on offense. We just don't have the skill. Richards is the only player on the team with special passing ability, and he isn't playing with the right players. Stepan is sliding back into last season's bad habits.

The Rangers were able to mask it for a few months, but the problem is the same today that it was 4 years ago: they just don't pass the puck very well, they don't cycle the puck with a purpose, and they struggle to create high quality scoring chances.

Luckily, the D continues to be superb, and Lundqvist just continues to prove that he's a hall of fame-caliber goaltender.

The two teams played equally. The two goaltenders played equally. We won a skills competition for an extra point.

Not thrilled, not down on the team. Folks here are still bitter about last night.

I'm out.

Henrik Lundqvist has moved into 5th in wins with 23 (leader is Howard at 31), 2nd in GAA at 1.82 (leader is Elliott at 1.69), 1st in save percentage (.939%), and tied for 1st in shutouts (6).

Other goalies leading in their categories:
Howard:
43 games (+6), 31 wins (+8), .925 SV% (-.014), 2.01 GAA (-0.19), 5 SHO (-1)

Quick:
42 games (+5), 21 wins (-2), .934 SV% (-.005), 1.93 GAA (-0.11), 6 SHO (E)

Elliott:
23 games (-14), 15 wins (-8), .938 SV% (.001), 1.69 GAA (+0.13), 5 SHO (-1)

Elliott is all but finished in the Vezina race unless he picks up 30 of his teams next 33 starts. Howard is currently too far behind in SV% and GAA, but has the starts and wins. Quick is the only legitimate candidate left (in my opinion) in the running for Vezina, and since he is on a middling Western Conference team as opposed to the 1st-place New York Rangers, this may FINALLY be Lundqvist's year.

To add: With no forward running away and hiding from the rest of the pack (Malkin being the only one making a case), Lundqvist might even have a legitimate MVP chance this year.

Agreed, but scoring more than the other team does is what wins games. Hank is only human.

I just remembered the time where people wanted Hank traded so we could start the superior Chad Johnson. Oh the lulz

I don't know, I think buffalo played a really smart game, miller played great, and in general they played well above where they are in the standings. I don't think it was entirely that bad, last night was worse IMO

I hate the shootout. Bring back ties, screw the fair weather fans who think a game can't end tied. Neither team deserved to win, but neither goalie deserved to lose.

Richards had some nice passes tonight and I actually noticed him often. Probably one of his best games so far this season IMO.

We are still in 1st with him not producing much, so at this point, I just hope he comes to play come playoff time. He could end up with only 60 point or so, but if he leads the team in points in the playoffs, I think we'll all be happy. (not that I want him to only get 60, but seems like it now)

Big time issue.

We can only grind, dump and chase for so long.

Eventually, we need to be able to make nice passes on the rush and score some pretty goals. No one can do that on this team.
