If you guys want to shut down the voting for #2 until after the deadline, I have no problem with that. I didn't realize we usually did this post-trade deadline. Maybe that's because we're not usually acquiring prospects, I don't know. I jumped the gun. My fault.

I say keep it going as mid-season prospect rankings....we're mid season.

If we lose any at the deadline....cool. We'll re-assess after the draft.

Armia...Cat....Kass.....Sundher...that's really it in terms of potential offense from prospects.
I'd still include Tropp and Foligno within that group, however remote their top 6 potential is. At least they have it, more than we can say for Jacobs, Shipley, and Henley right now. If the Sabres end up in the top 10 in draft order, I'd be pissed if they didn't go forward with their first 3 picks potentially all being in the top 40.

Going with Kassian, because from his callup time here he's much closer than I thought. But it's really 1a/1b with Armia, so I have no problem with Armia winning this one.

Easy call on the add, JGL.

Nobody's voted for him, so maybe it's a vote to add (although he's already on the poll)?

So, when considering a top prospect. Do you evaluate what they are doing vs. players he's currently playing against?
Or do you assume he'll get better and be effective against NHL players?
What if he sputters out and he becomes a career AHLer?
Is it only based on wishful thinking and potential?

I haven't voted yet, but to date, Mcnabb has impressed me the most. He has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he can handle the NHL game. No assuming or wishful thinking. No pondering of potential.

Thought?

Everyone does things differently. I value how close they are to the NHL probably a little bit more than others. Some look at potential and greatest ceiling more. Some may judge how close to NHL-ready a prospect is by their competition. Some factor in boom/bust potential and how "safe" it is for someone to reach the NHL. So for instance, while McNabb may be most NHL-ready, you have a guy like Pysyk whose skill set and ability at his current age project to a higher pairing, so how you balance the two differs from poster to poster and is one of the more interesting things about this poll. (A historical note: Kaleta was tied for 10th in these polls even after it was certain he was staying up, so that can give you an idea how many posters view things).
