I would as well, but would you be calling for the game to be finished weeks later in a different city like some of the crazies on the main board are?

No. What's done is done and steps should be taken to prevent it from happening in the future.

I honestly dont give 2 ***** about the time clock screwing up. Columbus doesn't have a shot in hell at the playoffs anyways. On top of that we've been screwed over on no goal calls way too many times. Bout time something goes our way.

Columbus' position in the standings has nothing to do with it. It should definitely be investigated and they have a right to be mad.

But irregularities happen all the damn time in this league, and for people on the main board to come up with some of these outlandish conspiracies and alternatives is hilarious.

For what it's worth:

“Los Angeles is one of those teams that you know what you’re going to get. They keep themselves in every game they play and every game is a tight game. It seems like they’re conditioning themselves to play playoff hockey, and that’s the way the games have been played between the teams.” - Curtis Sanford

That's bogus the way we won. It's just not right. When we go back to Columbus we should play a doubleheader. The first game can be just OT/Shootout of this game and then play the regularly scheduled game.

Will never happen but that is just ridiculous what happened tonight.

I'm sorry, but this is insane. This situation would open up a HUGE can of worms. First of all the Kings would be penalized losing home ice. Secondly, the rosters would be different due to trades, injuries, and call-ups. Theoretically Carter could be traded to the Kings and then score in OT to win that game that occurred when he was still a member of Columbus. You can't do it.

It would be ****ing awesome if everything (minus the injuries) from your scenario happened.

Makes up for the Ryan Smyth call in Ottawa last year and the Montreal game the year before that.

Proof that karma exists.

Beyond just karma, it's proof that human error and unavoidable irregularities exist. Teams will both benefit from random fortune, and get screwed through no fault of their own over the course of a season. Just like a missed crossbar call, this one comes down to "it is what it is", it's in the books, and of course it should be investigated and remedied for the future. Playing an OT at a later date is absurd, and if they do that, then I want makeup games for some of the absolute BS that has gone against US over the season... seasons... years... decades...

Um, Blue Jackets' fans don't even really want the points, do they? I recall them asking us to beat their team before the game so their team would feel more pressure to make changes. I've seen this happen all the time. Timekeeper gets trigger happy and stops the clock thinking the puck has been covered. Never seen it happen like this, but I suppose law of averages, it had to happen eventually.

This stuff happens in every sport, human error. I'll never forget Galarraga losing his perfect game cause the umpire messed up his call, but they didn't change that result. How about crazy stuff like an NFL ref hearing Steelers' Bettis call 'heads' when everyone else heard 'tails'? Point is, crazy **** happens, but they don't redo the game because of a blown call. Once the game is done, there is no going back.

This probably would be a big issue if it were two contenders, but the Jackets are failing for nail and trying to redo their whole team. If anyone needed a loss right now, it's them, so can we just move on?

I may be a bit sadistic, but I'd pay for this exact situation to happen during a Boston/Toronto playoff game

I actually think this is a great example, in a situation of a much larger magnitude. Galarraga threw a perfect game. He absolutely did. He knows it, MLB fans know it, the ump who issued him a tearful apology knows it, but it's baseball. It's in the books. He is not credited with a perfect game.

This is the way sports work.

Despite the conundrum of the illogical parading around the main board, the best thing to do is wait and see what the investigation concludes.

Obviously the T.V. clock pauses and Fox said that it should have been linked to the game clock, but it is not like he personally handles the clock so who knows. When I saw the overhead clock watching the puck go in, it started at 1.8 seconds and it moved smoothly.

Someone on the main board said that the referee mentioned they added .5 seconds onto the clock from the previous play, and if you watch that play you do see .5 seconds pass by after the whistle, but the T.V. clock remains at the 16.3 seconds it landed at without the .5 second adjustment. In the end, nobody knows until official word is given. People jumping to conclusions are doing so with very little basis.

I love how the Kings are being demonized as if they were directly in control of the clock and stopped it on purpose. This place can get pretty silly at times.

The fans on the main board are so self-righteously hilarious.

The NHL will probably issue a statement apologizing to the Jackets & NHL and move on. That's it, lol.

Nu uh, dude. They're going to make up the Kings give up draft picks, because it makes total sense to punish the Kings for a mistake the officials made. Total sense.
