Can you trade a player while on conditioning?

If you can't, they would just call him back and then trade him.

Kinda weird. You would have thought Wolski would have been on a conditioning stint before the all-star break if he was going to have a shot with the big club.

The Whale has more money on their books than some NHL teams.

won't mind AA for newbury, would prefer zucc but he just doesn't have the game for a 4th liner.

I'd be surprised if Wolski was sent down for any reason beyond just getting him some playing time.

Newbury was up here and was about as awful as you could be.

I have a feeling the term "conditioning stint" is going to get a lot of use on these forums. lol

That being said, I can't wait till Wolksi and Christensen are off the team.

A conditioning stint isn't for regular players to "find their groove" when they're struggling, it's for guys who are healthy scratches to get back into game shape and get their in-game timing back.

so to confirm this does nothing for the cap right?

Meaning they cant just trade for Ruutu now and have everything hunky dorey?

Woywitka and Wolski are still on the cap even though 2 weeks in the minors? Just like EC was?

Yeah I would assume they are still on the cap. Gotta assume they both end up in Hartford though eventually...I mean come on.

Wolski wants to play. If there is no room on the Rangers,he will play for another team. He needs to play if the Rangers are going to trade him. Wolski wasn't thrilled with the idea of a conditioning stint when it was brought up 3 weeks ago. Brooks speculated Wolski wants to be traded. The Rangers tell his agent Joe Resnick "we can't trade him unless he plays" and "he is not playing here".

Wolski will play 6 games in CT. The stint ends 10 days before the trading deadline.

Given the delicacy with which he chose his words this morning (“Media 101, right?” he said), it can be safely inferred he has suggested the Rangers seek to trade him if there is no place for him in Tortorella’s lineup.
