yea on some issues, for sure

but he is also very military focused, not that i'm saying that liberal people don't support the military

also, his views on hockey seem very conservative, as far as the fighting etc.

Toronto is lucky to have Brian Burke as much for his GM skill as the other unique things he brings.

I mean, for non Leaf fans it probably wouldn't be too hard. But, for us here who get to see the product he's putting together, his community awareness and just being a solid person, I can't see how anybody couldn't respect a guy like him.

We're talking about a good chunk of hockey fans. The same people who would rather listen to hockey players spew the same old cliched answers in interviews than listen to a man like Burke who actually likes to share his opinions.

It's unbelievable how contrasting this thread is with the one on the main board. Disgusting how polarizing the opinions of him are.

People are being forced to choose between Burke vs Cherry.
Because Hfboards (master) debaters point out all the negatives and worst attributes of each individual.
And conveniently discredit, ignore and gloss over each of their (limited) positives points

Really? There's almost no republican out there who would walk in the gay pride parade. It's a far right party and isn't known for being tolerant whatsoever. Oddly enough, Dick Cheney's daughter is gay, whenever the subject was brought up you'd think he was going to have another heart attack.

Burkes an absolutely fantastic person, from a business and an ethical perspective.

People who microwave fish will be offended by his comment.

For all the talk Burke has, that his family accept the retarded, gay, less fortunate, he does not treat people who choose to microwave their fish well. It is a bit insensitive and intolerant, albeit very funny, if you microwave fish and are singled out and made fun of by society.

Yes but dang is that every funny.

You now see why the Samueli's wanted him as GM for life.

I hope the consortium feels the same way.

People truly hate the Leafs, more than like their own team.

The amount of heat this man takes is so undeserved.

I don't always agree with things that Burke says or does, but this is a man that stands up for what he believes in. How many of us can honestly say that about ourselves? A man like that deserves respect.
