I really really hope we can somehow land Yakupov, because he is the only sure shot 80-85 player in this draft. Grigorenko I see him more as a 60 -70 point player same for Forsberg and Galchenyuk is kinda risky at top 3 so I`d rather stay away.

The pipeline we currently have isn't bad, just asymmetric.
You want to trade Eller for a draft pick and draft a centre? Does that make any sense to you?

Our problem is in weak prospect depth at forward yet you want to trade our biggest centre prospect?

Yes. With development, Grigro would become our 1st big line centre, leaving Plek into a very comfy 2nd line shutdown/PK specialist and Desharnais as a perky 3rd line center/PP specialist (plus somewhat cheap).

There is no place for Eller in that sort of lineup. He deserves to be played centre, not wingman. Better trade him for a winger to complement Grigo at first, and then with Plekanek.

What is the weakness in this argument? If I wrong, do tell.

Um lets see my personal opinion is PASS on that idea. Please bring in some solid North American kids for a change I am getting tired or the Euros and atleast bring in some kids with some decent size our miniatures experiment didn't work very well time to build an NHL sized roster.

you realize that almost all of our wingers are now over 6'0 200lbs right (7/8)? The only exception is Scott Gomez, who won't be here long and isn't a winger to begin with.

Our Euros at forward are Plekanec, Eller, and Kostitsyn.

But this team can't freaking score goals.

Lets blame all the problems on small guys and Euros.

They don't want to draft an other Russian, and if they can get a solid player to move down two spots they will grab it imo. Then we can have our pick of either.

I know some of you are high on players like Dumba, Forsberg, Trouba... I Say screw that. Grigs/Yakopov or we fail.
Why bother making a deal with Colubus? Just try and grab him in the dispersal draft when Columbus eventaully folds!!! ; )

Seriously, I'd rather try and keep our pick AND move up to get 2 stars this year. I know it's almost impossible, but would you sacrifice now, knowing that next season we could be back on top with a couple young franchise players? I would.

Also, Pleks should most definately be on the table. We have been too weak up the middle for years. If we can use him to move up in the draft, I say DO IT!

I think CLB takes Yakupov to keep Carter and Nash around. I can't see them taking Grigorenko. With Nugent Hopkins back this weekend, Im hoping Edmonton starts winning some. Anaheim is playing better so 2nd is still a chance.

If not, Id trade whatever needed to get Grigorenko, especially uf Roy is coach.

If Roy is coaching Grigorenko on the Habs next year I expect him to put up a Malkin-esque first season. No joke.

He did on draft day. He only pumped up McDonagh at the world juniors much later.

I'd hone my pick in a few ways...

If I was hiring Patrick Roy as my head coach candidate, you'd be tailoring this team for him, with his 6'4 200lb Center potential superstar, Mikhail Grigorenko.

If I was looking at Nail Yakupov, I'd then go hard on trying for a 2nd top 10 pick... Perhaps starting with a package of Plekanec + ,
and draft his buddy, Galchenyuk to the habs.

If I stay at # 3, and those 2 guys are gone, I go Forsberg. He's the champ

remember th Tanguay trade in 2008 ? mtl was ranked 25th at that time. what would cost a 1st overal if wet get Tanguay + a fifth rounder for a 1st and a second in 2009 ....

Plekanec, Tinordi, Palushaj and CGY secound rounder in 2013 ?

Vs

CBJ
1st overall and Mathieu Corbeil-Theriault (Goalie prospect)

EDM

1st overall and Olivier Roy (Goalie prospect)

ETC... for the team getting the 1st overall

-----------------------------------------------------
then we pick Grigorenko and Yakupov or Galchenyuk

wich is totally impossible btw !

but let's dream okay?

Pacioretty Desharnais Cole
Kostitsyn Eller Gionta
Leblanc Grigorenko (Yakupov or Galchenyuk)
Blunden White Moen
Gomez

Markov Subban
Gorges Diaz
Kaberle Emelin
Weber St-Denis

Price
Budaj

to get this PLZ

The 2 hilited lets please package them off and Tinordi may be tall but he is far from anything spectacular on the ice. Gallagher is not all that big he is gritty but not going to be a force maybe at the AHL level but he will be a 3rd liner in the NHL. He will be another Max Laps which I could certainly do without seeing yet again.

For example here are Gallaghers stats. Another smurf yay.

Brendan Gallagher
Right Wing
Born May 6 1992 -- Delta, BC
Height 5.08 -- Weight 170 -- Shoots R

Kristo:

Danny Kristo
Right Wing
Born Jun 18 1990 -- Eden Prairie, MN
Height 5.11 -- Weight 180 -- Shoots R

We need some more wingers and a centre with size and by size I mean 6'3" 215+

If we pick 1st or 2nd, I hope we end up with Grigorenko. If we are 3rd, I would trade down one spot (our 1st for #4 and 2nd) and pick Galchenyuk.

I like Forsberg, but I would lean towards Galchenyuk as Forsberg is a winger and we need a centre

I would hope the Habs would trade their pick for a very, very good player (center or D)+ the other teams' 1st pick.

I have no confidence that any of the potential Russian kids will develop and succeed in Montreal.

We have to re-build and fast.
