Thanks for the creepiness, EC.

Sadly, he probably has more trade value than Wolski.

Did we really have to throw in a 7th round pick? I mean is Casey Wellman really that much of an upgrade over EC? Not making a big deal out of this...just wondering.

The Rangers dealt their 7th last year for Mitchell. That worked out pretty well.

Wellman is young and has been getting better every year he has played. Not exactly a steal of a deal or a huge prospect deal but what is a 7th round pick nowadays? If the rangers have someone they like they will just trade for him.

Rangers beat writers saying the 7th is conditional.

The Rangers looked at Wellman when he a college free agent two years ago. His agent wanted his client to play in the NHL so he would lose 1 off the ELC. Slats said no. Brooks wrote about it.

The pick heading to Minnesota in Wellman deal is a conditional 7th round draft choice in 2013

Saves the Rangers some money on the cap and they get a player to help the Whale hopefully pull out of their snide. Wellman is a pretty good young player.

Good for EC that he'll actually get to play a bit. Maybe he can stick in Minny.

Wellman is 12th on the Wild's HF prospect ratings.

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/casey_wellman

6.5 C

Important note is that he "loses too many physical battles to be effective at the NHL level currently"

Maybe this turns out to be a P.A. Parenteau situation. Could always be a Corey Locke or Alex Giroux, though.

Guy gave us some good moments. I always thought, for his price tag that he got ragged on a little too much for having a reserved personality, but he gave us some really good performances.

I don't think, that with our centers, he fit into this years team at all.
