He could average a point a game for the rest of the season and this is still a smart move.

EC had no place on the Rangers and should not have made the team out of camp

Wasn't a fan of EC's though he did have his moments infrequent as they were. I think he's a legit NHL player--at least in a 30 team league but he no longer fit here. He gets a shot to prove he can still play--so adios and good luck.

Good Luck EC---ill be looking for you on Wild shoot-out highlights!!!
Avery was available to the league for free on three seperate occassions.

No one.

He's not going to get more than EC in a trade.

Sather just saved EC from learning Russian language. At least for now.
I believe Christ will make a great hockey analyst/color guy after retirement. Very intelligent man he is. Up until then I wish him all the best with new club. Should be a good fit.

Say what you want about his consistency/play out on the ice but he's a stand-up guy and a professional. Never pouted or complained about his status on the team. Here are some of his comments in recently interviews:

Quote:
“I love hockey, and I want to play,” said Christensen, who has been scratched for 20 of the Rangers’ 40 games this season. “Right now I’m not getting in the lineup here, and I’m more than happy to go down and help the team in Hartford … I know they had to get my consent or something like that, but there was never a question of me saying no.”

&

Quote:
“I don’t see any other option,” Christensen said. “It is what it is. The team is playing well. I was watching every game down there. It’s impressive what the guys are doing. It’s night and day (from last season). I thought we were a good team last year. But it’s impressive what we’re doing.”

Hopefully he can revitalize his NHL career and stick somewhere. Seems like a good guy.

If the Wild re-signs Christensen, it doesn't get the puck. If he leaves as a free agent, it gets the seventh.

Good terms. Personally I think the Rangers will try and re-sign Wellman. There's upside there, and to be frank, our player development has exceeded Minny's by quite a bit in recent years.

The sniping at EC on this thread is bizarre. He has a lot of specific high-end skills, but can't seem to put them together except at certain moments.

Somewhere in the depths of this Rangers board, Ola gave a fantastic appraisal of EC as a player. I can't describe the details, but it basically came down to the fact that EC seems not to think the game more than one move ahead of time, which doesn't work in the NHL. He has the physical skills, even the craftiness, to do just about everything you want as a scoring forward, but he just doesn't seem to be able to see it out on the ice.

The guy, in my opinion, thinks too much, both during the games and in evaluating his play. He's not one to rely on his instincts, and he's certainly not cocky. These qualities probably make him a great guy to be around, but unfortunately, they are helpful to developing a scoring NHL forward.

I always rooted for Christensen to get comfortable and put his game together in the NHL, and I still do. Good luck to him in Minny.

Good luck to Crusher, he will help Minny in the shootouts and get them that extra point much like he how he helped us last season, everyone knows just how useful he was when the game was actually being played.

Won't be long until Eric finally finds a home as a Euro league superstar. Nothing wrong with that.

Wellman is an undrafted American kid. From Northern California (somewhere between San Jose and Sacramento). His dad played for the San Fran Giants. Maybe he knows McColgan.

Considering that we were paying him nothing and that he did more or less what we needed him to do (be a stop-gap/band-aid for the top 6), I don't get how anyone can be upset with him.

Again, for a waiver claim, he did pretty well for us.

Hopefully this can knock some sense into the trade proposals.

Whoever brought up what Ola said about him is spot on. For all the talent he had, he never seemed to be in the right spot to make a play most of the time. Also didn't help he wasn't the best with physical play, and didn't seem to have too much of an engine.
