As would Columbus or Carolina. Both Carolina and the Sabres have spare defenseman. Maybe there are options with either of them? Carolina, Ducks, and Columbus might be looking to shed some long term salary.

Gleason, Spacek, Allen, Beauchemin are all on expiring contracts.

So is Cory Sarich who once played with Tortorella. I'd move Wolski for Sarich, IF Wolski were healthy, which he's still not.

I'd rather see a healthy Vtank or Erixon then Bickel.

8 to 10 weeks for a separated shoulder? Isn't that a bit longer than normal?

Is there a clip of the hit, I simply missed this play somehow...

Did he get plastered behind our net early in the game? There was one play where I saw that, saw a glimpse of a part of a 4 number and thought it was DZ...

I think you got the right play. Sam and Joe were saying that it was DZ.

I'd be very curious to see the reaction. It would be interesting to say the least.

It was the "Gila River Check of the Night" in Phoenix. They played it over and over on the scoreboard.

8-10 weeks is a pretty severe seperation. The most severe shoulder separation completely tears both the AC and CC ligaments and puts the AC joint noticeably out of position.

8-10 weeks sounds more like a dislocation. Must be a major separation. I feel for the guy, I know how bad he must be hurting.

Actually a healthy Wolski for a Spacek might make sense for both teams. Carolina really needs forwards. Spacek is a classic 3rd pair guy at this point in his career and the contracts match up. We could do a lot worse.

You never answered my question in another thread, or maybe you did and I missed it.

How's Aucoin's skating?

Its been 2 weeks, so now you have to say 6-8 more weeks. That would be somewhere between February 14th and February 28th. No news on Emmy, just wanted to figure out when he would be back, I think him and del zotto will eventually be that third pair. Looking forward to him, nothing against stralman.

Worth noting he was without his sling at WC practice, first time he was able to remove it.

Thanks, I remember hearing that but forgot about it. Personally I thought the 8-10 weeks was a little steep, but I have never had an injury like that. I know some posters here did and were explaining it, either way it would be a nice boost if Sauer and Eminger came back together for the stretch run in March.

Del Zotto is not going to playing on the 3rd pair--he's now averaging almost 23 minutes a game and is playing very well at both even strength and on the power play. All things being equal (ie assuming he continues to play well), Tortorella is not going to be cutting back his minutes: the offense he generates from the blueline is a big reason for the Rangers success right now.

Strålman is averaging 18 minutes game, has 5 assists in 18 games and has played more total minutes in 18 games than Eminger did in the 30 games he played. He's shown he can handle chippy play and can provide some offense as well--he's made some very nice passes that have resulted in good scoring chances (as well as a couple of very nice goals). Again--I don't see him coming out of the lineup any time soon, unless his play deteriorates significantly.

Eminger was signed to be the 7th defenseman. Injuries got him into the lineup and while he played fairly well, unless Sauer is still out, he's not going to be replacing anyone except Jeff Woywitka or Stu Bickel.

Wonderful news. Bickel really doesn't do us any good if Torts isn't gonna play him more than 6 minutes a night.

I guess Bickel is the odd man out now. But not entirely sure. Bickel has to go through waivers to go down and I do not think Sather wants to lose him for nothing. I say either Woywitka is waived or we might see another minor trade (for a defender sending on of ours out) coming up shortly...

McD - Girardi
MDZ - Strålman
Staal - Eminger

Woywitka, Bickel

Sauer LTIR

Yep... now we can ride Girardi and McDonagh less with Eminger in the lineup.

Oh I would definitely waive Woywitka and keep Bickel as a 7th before I lose Bickel on waivers.

I don't think either player has long term value to the Rangers. If we waive Woywitka, he might get claimed too. And I think Torts trusts Woywitka more than he does Bickel.

I think Bickel is the IDEAL #7 d-man. Big, fights, decent defensively. Keeps the game simple.

Awesome news. I think Bickel's play has tailed off of late and there's really no point in dressing him to begin with if you're just going to have him sit on the bench the second half of the game. This should reduce some of Girardi and McD's minutes.
