They have good sticks, they move and we’ve got to work harder to get open to make good passes. When you get through the neutral zone, the defensive zone, that’s how you’re going to score goals. We’re not going to score goals, obviously, by playing in the D-zone, so we’ve got to be smoother, be quicker. They don’t give up much. They give up less goals-against than we do. We knew it was going to be a tight, playoff-style game in here, a heavy and hard game. That’s exactly what we got. We just couldn’t find a way to beat Halak. (on needing to break the forecheck with support play…) Short, support plays. Like you saw, when we broke it out clean, sometimes it looks easy but it’s just a good support play. One good pass, one good play, and you can break that. We just didn’t have enough of those. (on only having one power play…) You could tell, early on, that they were going to let a lot of stuff go and it was going to be a hard-fought game. And that’s fine. We’ve got to find ways to score goals. We’re not waiting for the power play. You can’t do that in this game. You’ve got to find ways to generate offense."

I thought our second period was our best period, even though we were down a goal. I think we had probably four or five (chances) that you would consider grade-A chances, and their goalie was better than our shooter. (on struggling with breakout passes…) First period, it’s tough to make the first pass when your friggin’ (butt) is up in the air, from getting knocked on it. After that, we were fine. (on what made Halak tough to beat…)
He covered the bottom of the net. I’m only looking at the big opportunities. You have to get the puck over him, and we didn’t. We had three great (chances) where we slid it on the ice, after he was down making a save or on Brownie’s breakaway, and you’ve got to get it up. (on Doughty’s hip-check attempt on the goal…) He was caught on his wrong side. He switched. We switched defensemen on the faceoff, to get righty-lefty, and Robbie (Scuderi) and him switched on the faceoff. He got caught defending on his wrong side of the ice."

It’s possible that there will be a couple line-combination as well, and I will be looking for much more from the centers than I got last night. You look at the matchups. They wanted Backes against Kopitar, and Arnott against Richards, and Berglund against Stoll. That should be all right for us, when you look at it, but when you look at it at the end of the night, their three guys clearly outplayed our three guys. That’s the difference in the game. (Asked how Kyle Clifford fared, in his second-line role...) Hey, we lost. I wasn’t happy with anyone."

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE -
NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

This should be interesting. Second game of a back to back against a non playoff team the day after playing one of those no show games where they got shutout. hmm...... At least score a couple goals to make it somewhat exciting for the fans.

Let's have a better offensive effort, shouldn't be too difficult. GO KINGS!

He could in his rookie year, but not anymore. He had been brainwashed by Murray&Lombardi to focus only on D and he lost a lot of his offensive power. He could be a "Malkin" for the Kings if they had developed him in a more balanced way (playing more balanced system).
2:1 Canes in OT.
