We just traded for a AHL d-man too. Wouldnt be suprised if we trade Quincey or O'Brien soon. It could also just be us sending Elliott down.

Well, we know it's one of 3 things: Someone's either hurt, been traded, or been sent down.

Well...someone would have to be sent down/traded though right?

Because not counting Matt Duchene, who's listed on IR on the Avs website, they are at 23 players counting Elliott/VDG

So, someone would have to be sent down most likely, unless someone else is hurt.

Must be true. LE Monsters tweeted this just a couple minutes ago:

Would be really neat to see him in the lineup today. I'm betting he will be as the Avs already have two healthy defencemen sitting each night. Best case scenario, a trade is coming. Most likely Elliott just going down.

Anyone know how many defencemen the Monsters have? Seems like something could be up seeing as the Avs acquired a minor league defenceman, then call up their 9th healthy defenceman. Would sending Elliott down give the Monsters a healthy number of defencemen? Leaving one more to shed in the NHL.

If we're able to recuparate our 1st while trading Quincey and bringing up Barrie or acquire a good top 6 winger, I don't mind one bit. I don't even care if we miss out on the playoffs (which we probably will be anyways).

That'd be the best possible reason to call him up, but I imagine someones just injured or they'll send Elliott down soon.

Wilson did take another hard hit to the head vs. Minny. Hope he's not out again.

Perhaps management wants to see Barrie at the NHL level for a bit before making a move. He's done well in LEM and deserves a look.

Yeah...I hear ya, but to be fair as well the Avalanche's own Twitter Feed and website hasn't even posted or updated to inform their fans of the news.

And if the snow is really that bad in Denver, I wouldn't be surprised if Barrie doesn't play today, how would he arrive in time for an afternoon game?

I would guess that Wilson is injured again. Too bad if true.

Oh goodness, I hope not. He hasn't looked great the last few games, though... hmm.

I haven't been able to find anything "official" about the call-up anywhere. Has anyone had any luck? This is exciting!

Maybe he wasn't fully healed and they rushed him?

Wouldn't be the first time a player has been rushed back. *sigh* Well, no news so far. And now I find myself obsessively checking twitter and the Avs' main page/fan page for news.

Let's look at this realistically...the last time something like this happened was last year if I remember correctly, where we had a few too many defensemen on the roster, and we all speculated that there would be a deal involving one of our excess defensemen, and it didn't come.

In general, whenever we as fans think that a potential Avs deal HAS to be in the works (and we usually believe that based on analyzing a situation and determining that a trade is the only logical scenario) we are usually let down.

Perhaps, but you have to admit that it's at least pretty coincidental that we trade Carman for Richmond and then call-up Barrie. If we're just going to send Elliott down. It's easy to make that 1 for 1 swap. In the case of an injury, hunwick should be able to fill-in for a week of so.

To me, it's seems like something is up. My best bet would be either Quincey or O'Brien being dealt. Probably Quincey.

I'm almost to the point of just re-naming the thread and dropping the "Speculation"...but would like to wait on word from either the Avs or AD/Chambers

I doubt we call up Barrie just to sit him.

So someone is prolly injured.

And if we keep calling up players during injuries, Hunwick is likely going to be traded for a 7th rounder or something.

If it's not Hunwick moving, I think Quincey should be sent packing.

Either way, someone has to be moving to fit Barrie onto the roster minus a new IR resident.
