Maybe he should "MAN UP" and explain to us his change in direction.. Personally I am sick of his BS.
A team that is top 10 in both hits and blocked shots is soooo soft...

Actually, that press conference was about Burke trying to justify ( publicly ) why he lied to Orr.. and his Coach had no use for him

But hey, if you know how to acquire a Lucic or Clowe or Backes, please let Burke know your great ideas
Its one of the reason GM Chiarelli offered more $$ and chose to keep Lucic and preferred to deal Kessel instead when he needed to decide which player had more value to his team and occupy cap space.

He understood the importance of that aspect of grit that extends beyond just goals scored and was a key to building a winning championship team.

Good thread op. Op would u rather this lineup?
Orr-brown-rosehill
Orr-brown-rosehill
Orr-brown-rosehill
Orr-brown-rosehill

Komisarek-phaneuf
Komisarek-schenn
Aulie-komisarek?

That's a tougher and more truculent team, more like the one burke promised. I like it and it would be competing with clb for 1st place!

burkie loves his rough hockey.. trust me I dont think this is the team he wanted to build either... but he has done well with what he was given when he came in..

the difference between the team he took over and now is amazing..

he's done a good job.. He'd love more toughness and physicality

What I dont get is why some of you guys think this seasons team is the team we will be contending with. When burke is done, you will see then that we will have the size and speed and skill to match all teams. The foundation is in place with his drafting and players he is looking to trade or sign. Like i said in 3 years if we still have the same style of team then complain, but gotta remember this is the first year of us even expecting anything from them.

I am pretty sure that Burke is looking to add some size to our top6 right now but you have to be patient because a trade involves at least 2 GMs (plus players assuming they have a NTC/NMC). Burke is a great trading GM but sometimes i get the impression that people expect Burke to kidnap a first line center and power forward. And as others already mentioned take close a look at Burkes draft picks.

We will in time. You have to be patient. We will form that team via the draft.

I don't understand some people.....

Brian Burke admits to filing "Formal Complaint" with HFBoards against forecheck saying his "vicious and cutting" remarks on his team management and missing team truculence has "to stop."

So I'm confused. You're mad that we're winning with a different team than he wanted to build? But...we're winning? He has drafted guys like Biggs (moved up tp get him..). Burke stated numerous times his style doesn't work that well anymore. Do you even listen to his interviews? He stated at first he wanted the top 6 as skilled guys (Kessel, Lupul, Grabo..) and bottom 6 as the grinders. But in the interview about Orr he stated you need THREE scoring lines now-a-days.

You need speed in todays game.

He's been drafting these kind of skilled in your face players. I personally have no problem with the speed more skilled team. I for one have no problem building speed and skill over slow footed thugs, but If we can get our hands on guys like David Clarkson, Cal Clutterbuck, Ryan Clowe, Travis Moen, etc, etc. All guys who play rough in your face stye but still bring skill to their games. I prefer warrior type players to strictly fighters any day of the weak.

He's made good moves but most of the significant ones are on D yet our system is so bad.

That is slowley starting to change. Thats 5 shutouts since the start of 2012. The Leafs still have'nt givin up a short handed goal in that time either, I do believe. The Leafs have a very good young defense core and they are showing signs of just how good they can be.

Burke has explained all of this in interviews during the course of the season. It's not BS. To him, "the game has changed", which is why we have a much faster, skilled team than teams he's had in the past.
