You guys are right on this...

Can't grind out a game all the time and expect top teams to fall to it. Our offensive strings just are not enough to get us to that next level yet.

Didn't want to go? Please. Reaves had approached and barked at McGrattan a couple different times. That's not the behavior of a guy who's looking to avoid a fight.

Fair enough. I just thought it was kind of a strange thing to say when the Blues were clearly having other problems.

Halak was fantastic in the second period. It's nowhere near his fault that we're losing. As Reaves just said in the interview, they're not making plays where they should be, and not getting the puck in deep enough.

I mean Langenbrunner took a shot from pretty far away when there was a wall of yellow jerseys blocking the goal. Come on now.

I would say that first goal is all on Halak.

yea, because Elliott would've stopped every shot AND scored a goal too.

it wasn't his fault whatsoever on either of the 2 goals.....and he has played stellar. He was off for a while before yesterday so why not ride the hottest goalie in the NHL?

McGrattan was barking at Reaves, on the second such incident, Reaves agreed. What's the problem? He went, mad props, what a beast.

Goal 1 looked like Halak's screw up. Goal 2 was just a great play by preds. So it still would be 0-1 even then... so our problem still is inability to score a damn goal.

I am curious though....

#goals scored when Halak is in net vs Elliott in net. I wonder if there is a statistic difference if the team feels more confident in net over one goalie or the other.

When the Preds scored the 2d goal it was 12-5 for the Blues in shots and has been 26-11 for the Preds since. The Blues are having done to them what they usually do to teams.

If this is the kind of effort we can expect on the second half of nights or when the team faces adversity by going down 2 goals against an opponent giving big effort, we're looking at 5 or 6 games and then the golf course this postseason. They're going to have to win on the road against their tough three Central foes and we're looking at 0-4-1 after tonight.

Berglund and Stewart are ghosts in this one, depressingly yet again. They're part time players. They're not going to get better just because Steen or McDonald come back.

Going to be interesting to see how Hitchcock reacts to them not doing squat given his comments before the break ended to the effect that results are what matters now.

The Preds are forcing Halak to make big saves. The Blues haven't forced Rinne to make one big save all game. They're not getting to the inside, and the shots that they do get are right into Rinne. Rinne is a great goalie but I don't feel that the Blues have even challenged him the past few games.

And whoever has that gd whistle is really annoying.

And just like that, Porter scores lol

You said Reaves was scared. Which is silly, based on how he was acting. That's all.

Porter!

I didn't expect Porter to get a goal, that was sweet. So we broke Rinne's shutout at least.

I agree. Halak has been fantastic this game. Rinne hasn't had to do much because we keep freaking taking shots from the blue line and that's obviously not going to work in this game. Get the puck in deep.

Don't know why any Blues fans would want to see a playoff series against these 2 teams...We can almost never score on Rinne
