My hopes for this season was for the Kings to get the second round. Now I just hope they can get into the playoffs. This lack of scoring is miserable and I don't see an end to it.

Kopitar for the most part of the game looked good. Where is Richards line?

And why the **** was Voynov scratched tonight? If they are showcasing Martinez, his value just dropped after that bonehead play into Tlusty's pads.

Just shoot it wide like Scuderi does every time..

Can't fault Bernier too much either, because when he's in net, they don't seem to play hard. I've seen this the entire year. Maybe they think he's better than Quick and he will save their ass, but they just never seem to help him out like they do with Quick.

Then again, 1 goal in two games, is not going to help your quest to pick up any points for the stretch run.

Bad loss. Usually you give the team a break after that hard fought 1-0 loss vs St Louis (one of the best teams in the West) last night, but these are points you just have to have against bad teams like Carolina.

Kings created some chances throughout the game but just can't finish around the net. They don't have any finishers up front who can clean up the trash for the garbage goals. Penner is big, but he doesn't want to stand in front of the net and take the beating necessary to score those types of goals. That's where you miss a guy like Simmonds, and those types of guys are so important when you look at teams that have won the cup recently like Byfuglien with Chicago, Lucic and Horton with Boston, Holmstrom and Franzen with Detroit, etc.

So not only do these Kings need a high end scoring winger but also a guy to clean up the garbage in front of the net and set some screens/make the goalie's life miserable.

Everyone else should be on notice. Simple as that. I'd trade Kopitar for the right value at this point.
Wow. You would trade Kopitar? Just wow.

It's just a matter of skill. We are light on skill, heavy on grit. Grit has gotten us this far but unless we get Gagne back or Penner commits himself each shift there will be many more of these. It's not the coaches fault. We had to see a hell of a lot of guys like Richardson, Lewis, Hunter, Clifford inside 4 minutes. Half of our top 6 will not crack 18 points at their pace. I'm starting to see Richards be visably frustrated with his wingers out there and he's on them a lot. I don't know if that is a good thing or bad.

The Kings are probably tired so lets not beat up any one person.

Can Edmonton take back Stoll and Penner? We don't need anything in return.

Finish the freakin' plays. This team is madding.

At the point I just want a floater. Someone who won't play lick of defense. I want him just hanging out center ice waiting for the puck to come back to him.

Looks like the newness of Darryl Sutter has/is wearing off. The team looks like it did during Murray's final days.

If the Kings don't make it past the 1st round due to scoring issues, Lombardi should be fired. (Nothing unreasonable or reactionary about that)

Richards continues to underwhelm.

Richards clearly is not the same player he was before the concussion. I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that he's playing injured.

I wouldn't trade him for spare parts. But really, how untouchable can the guy actually be now?

These guys don't play with any desperation. They know they get to come to work no matter what.

Actually, if we can get another center with a few pieces and then trade Kopitar for some scoring wingers... I don't think it would be a terrible idea.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Richards is still hurt.

And yet you compound it again...perhaps its takes some time for the frustration to leak out...

I really believe some of the most fickle Kings fans must post on this board, one bad loss and everyone wants to blow the team up.

Just amazing.

I guess what frustrates me the most right now is that we're in black hole territory again. These losses would be fine if we were a bad team, or a good team just dropping some games...that isn't the case. It's tough, and unexpected at this point in the process.

All Sutter brought was newness, it was bound to wear off. We are still playing the same organizationally installed and mandated style and that will not change until you cut the head off the snake.

Traveling team back to back games. We will be better next game.
So when do the excuses stop? It's getting to a point where it doesn't matter how hard guys like Lewis work there is no results. Until there are changes made excuses will continue like back to back games or the other team is great defensively or ram into a hot goalie blah blah blah. Worst scoring team in the league and no signs of improvement.

But ok let's give the lack of offense a pass because they are tired.

Trading Kopitar would be one of the worst management moves in the Kings unillustrious history

Since their overtime/SO record is 7-10, it is a very sad day to report the Kings are merely a .500 team in the traditional sense.

18-18-17 after 53 games...traditionally, they would have only 53 points at this time.

Beautiful.
