I'd agree - we have to win about 75% at this point to get in.

possibly a bit less, but we definitely can't lose any more 4-point games to Wash/Florida/TB (although 3rd will be tough now) or anyone else in the hunt.

25th in the league in overall team weight.
Bruins, Rangers, Penguins, Red Wings are all in the same neighbourhood.

Bold prediction: Jets win 4-3. Mittens and Fehr pot two each, overcoming a hatty for Gomez.

...and then the Mayan prediction comes true, and the world promptly ends.

Original post has been updated with info: for those not enamoured with the "Bro" themed GDT's, I would skip perusing it.

Should be an interesting game today. Playing so good defensively, you'd assume that the players would eventually figure out how to regain some of their offsensive threat. No prediction from me - just want to see a good, fun game.

Well, one prediction: Mittens pots one.

Go Go!

as much as I love the Habs, this is a must win for the Jets to keep up in the race:

With 2 more games played than Panthers & Caps, 1 more played than Leafs, in addition to being only 3 points ahead of Tampa Bay now (and 4 ahead of Buffalo & Isles), we gotta win it.

A win would put us only 2 points behind Caps, 3 behind Panthers, 4 behind Toronto.

We've also played 2 more games than Tampa Bay, Isles, and one more than Sabres....so there is much priority over winning.

obviously lol.

I'm not discounting players like Antropov, Fehr, Wheeler, Byfuglien, Ladd, Hainsey, Stuart, Thorburn, Glass and even Slater who are, or play like big players, but the Jets have some key players who do not play "big".

I can't see this game featuring many goals - the Habs and Jets have combined for 263 goals for in 105 total games or an average of 2.5 goals. If either team scores more than 3 goals it should be considered an aberration.

Very true.

Sheer mass =/= wins, that goes without saying. But for people wondering why the Jets might be considered small, it is borne out by statistics. Also, we have two guys that skew the average greatly (Buff and Antro).

Less importantly than mass, I don't believe the Jets have enough guys that punch at or above their size. That's just my take though, that the Jets need to start trending towards more size and nastiness, with an emphasis on the latter. I'm not just a size queen.

Getting a wave of optimism rushing over me.

Put down some Vcash and changed the Avi to the first Winnipeg Avco cup championship team. now only if we had a top line like Ulf, Andres and Bobby.

This could also be lessened if each loss we take is in overtime. Just sayin'.

And you know, even if we do lose, I'd prefer that we go down in a similar fashion and style as this guy:

Loved the Pats ever since I was a little kid (mainly because of the logo, Minuteman in the three point stance = the ****), and I saw my first and only NFL game at Foxboro back in 1996.

I'm thinking I should get a SB GDT started pretty soon. I'll take on all haters in there.

A game the Jets should clearly win, hoping for a Pav's shut out just in case Montreal scores one.

Dude asked about Antropov, he's about as fast as a Zamboni, if the game was played in slow motion he would be great.

Lions fan here and I hope to see Manning bring it home and show Peyton who is boss!!...........started watching/following NFL in 06. Decided to follow and cheer for the Lions as I did not want to bandwagon on a good team and they were looking horrible mid season but had some players that entertained me. getting OT here lol

Get that GDT up and running so we can get some good SB discussions going

Is anyone else excited to see the Gomez one year anniversary of no goals at 7 million a year?!!? Apperently Canadian fans are going to be bringing balloons, signs, costumes etc. Should be an epic game to watch

Come on WINNIPEG!!! I don't know why, but I just see this as just a MASSIVE game. I think its because I'm looking at two road games against WSH and PIT coming up. And the Leafs are playing really well...I don't know, we need to regain the confidence quickly so that we can stay in the thick of things...

Blake Wheeler looked like he was going to murder someone last game. If the whole team put half that much intensity into their shifts...

TAKE NO PRISONERS!

Eric Fehr is a healthy scratch for tonight. Burmi back up with Welly and Antro?

Jets can't afford to lose this game. They need to win 65% of the rest of the games in order to make the playoffs. Or not lose 9 games in total which would knock them out of the playoffs.

The Odds are too heavy against them. But they need a winning streak to turn things around. Start it against the horrible HABS.

Good Q: not sure if both Gagnon and Machecek are still both with the team - I'm assuming that both of them are in, if so?

This game is huge and winnable. I say 4-2 jets.

As for the size thing, I've never thought of them as small. I think if you take stapleton, enstrom and mittens out of the equation, we get a lot bigger. I don't think of the jets as weak, and when wheeler, antro, buff, and bogo are out there we can be pretty imposing
