The way he circles to puck around the net makes me think about Sergei Samsonov

I'd trade some of our UFAs and give him a roster spot for the rest of the year. No reason not to. Would be nice to see what he can do in a top 9 role for the rest of the year. Nothing to lose at this point, playoffs are impossible.

Darche can think the game, can play solid low event hockey. It appears as though Schultz has not earned enough trust at the AHL level to play against top opposition, let alone earn ice time in the big leagues.

I'd like to have a tough guy who can play. I think Tootoo would be a very solid signing, if he tests the market. But promoting a fringe AHL'er because he fights? I love Miguel Cotto, but not to put him on skates and give him ice time with the Montreal Canadiens.

Really liked what I saw from Palushaj today actually Could turn out to be an effective energy player in the future.

Palushaj-Eller-Leblanc has the making of a solid third line.

People need to understand the situation. Not that people don't want a true grinder on 4th line, it's that our best call up is palushaj and leblanc. We can ***** and moan about them being in roles they shouldnt be in, for which I agree, but it's because we have no bottom 6 type prospects who are ready. It's not an issue towards our hamilton grinder crew, but they are not ready. The problem isn't that they didn't called a tougher player up, it's that they don't have a tougher prospect who is ready. The next wave of AHL bound prospects is a skilled one again, so this is bound to happen for a few years.

Sigh. Yes Darche's 7 points and -2 rating will be sorely missed. Irreplaceable really. Nobody suggested a boxer on skates, but Schultz adds a factor that Darche doesn't bring to the team. Schultz has 12 points in 32 games and 7 fights. Why not try Schultz? Habs are done anyway.

Darche played over 20 minutes today....

Looking forward to see Schultz played that amount of time....over 5 games.

Because he's not NHL ready.

12 points in 32 AHL games is mediocre at best even for an enforcer. Darche was a near PPG 30 goal scorer the last time he was in the AHL and is a marginal NHL player. Schultz wouldn't play more than a shift or two even if he was on the game roster.

Its better to let him get icetime and learn in the AHL so he could end up being more than a marginal player in the NHL. He's only 21 years old. Why the rush? It only makes him waiver elligible faster.

Maybe he can get a callup next year if he impresses enough.

He seemed nervous in his interview with Elliotte Freidman after the game, good to see him pick up his first point.

While I find the idea to call up schultz when you have better players stupid, at a certain point, if moen and say darche are traded, it doesn't hurt to give the kid a look at what the NHL is about to motivate him over the summer. Other than that, if we have players better than him, along with the palushajs and leblancs ahead of him, then no point.

Imho they could give him a game or two if they feel he deserves it as a reward/motivation tool but he can't really hold a real spot down in the lineup. Asking him to replace even Darche is madness.

I agree with you 100%, but if the habs sell, it doesn't hurt to give him a 2 game call up for kicks. Granted, you don't reward a guy just because, but if his work ethic in hamilton is there and he's earned a "keep up the good work", yah, it wouldn't be a bad thing, but i'm far from hoping for it. It's really trivial and if it happens, it happens, but Schultz won't help us one bit.

I really want Palushaj to excel and succede with us, he has a lot of good things going for him, if he finds his options limited in montreal I still see him having a pretty decent career considering his over all profile, stats and abilities...player development is not a perfect science, so many anomalies occur, who knows ian shultz may pull a ryder and quit hockey or conboy may exceed or actully meet his projected potential...remember the plethora of people unsure of desharnais potential nhl staying power? Palushaj was never given half the chance latendresse, eller and max lapierre etc were given...the best way to see if Palushaj is nhl material is to use him in the nhl, more than 10mins per game...

Should have had 3 goals but he has no talent. Missed like 2 open nets, we need someone that will bring something to the team. Another Tom Pyatt we don't need, if Darche name was Smith he would have been gone along time ago.

They should have kept him, he belongs on a line with Eller and Leblanc more then Blunden does. We needed to see if he could keep up his play with them, it would have answered a lot of question about next season. He won't ever be a first liner but I think he has potential on an offensive third line.

Edit: I guess Moen is the one who's back, I thought Blunden first. I guess we'll probably see Palushaj back when a couple of guys go at the deadline.

Palushaj isn't the answer. He won't score much, he's not as useful ad Moen, and he's not a big, physical player like Blunden. Leblanc will take his place and do better.
