Proposal - sign Moen 3yrs/6Mill

With a Team about to have a high draft pick, Leblanc, Pulashaj, Deharnais in their forward line-up and some forward vets most likely departing, Why Not sign Moen to be a mentor to the kids (+ he has size!)?

I don't mind signing Moen but that's too much. 3 years and 4 mil maybe go to 5 mil absolute max.

Thats a bit too rich for Moen.

I'd offer him the exact same deal he's coming off...3 years, 1.5per. I'd probably be willing to go as high as 1.75per but i'd draw the line at that.

Less than 2 mil please. 1.9 even i can live with, 2 mil just feels wrong. I'd rather 1.6-1.7 per.

I like Moen but you dont have to sign him. I think you can get a decent pick for him this year. You can usually find another moen when the team is contending.

We all want(ed) a Rupp, Prust, Asham... etc.

Moen is the closest we have to that.

I would love to keep him, but 2M is too much.

Why replace Moen with another Moen when we already have a Moen? Sure we won't be competing next year, but we need a gritty guy like him in the lineup who doesn't mind dropping the gloves. I say we keep him and sign him, 3 years 4.5-5m

We wont win the cup next year ether. Phoque Moen. We easily can find another. We have white that'll come back and Scultz down there that can do the same job.

I disagree.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm...ntial&type=CON

Based on goal differential we are in the playoffs despite being so low. I know it gets talked about a lot but if we had even a #15 PP in the league right now we'd be 5th or 6th in the east, not 14th. If Markov really does return to form we are going to have a top 5 PP. Our PK record when Gill was out this year was 100%, so it's not like our PK will suddenly become **** with him gone. I really think we could take a run at first in the east next year with a healthy squad(lol).

The idea is that moen is more useful to a competing team this year, and you might be able to find something with the draft pick in return, and get some organizational depth. As much as I like moen, I think he is replaceable when the time comes.

I say why not wait until the trade deadline, look at the offers from contenders, and decide based on that.

There may be " an offer you can't refuse"

Let's face it, he has had success on all 4 lines....

We can always re-sign Moen in the offseason. Trade him while his value is highest, and he gets another chance at the Cup.

Exactly, thats what I would do. Trade him now, let him know that you will make an effort to bring him back next year.

Well I'm not an NHL player but I wouldn't like it if a team told me "hey listen, we're going to trade you because we want a pick for this upcoming draft since it's going to be good...sorry bud. you can always come back next year though"

If he ends up being traded and comes back (which i don't see happening), should we expect a NTC?

Take the pick.

Sign Moen, or one of the numerous similar guys (Prust, Gaustad, Tootoo, Kostopolous, etc...) who will be available on July 1st.

Might as well add some extra picks.

Moen is a nice heart and soul guy for a playoff team, but we aren't a playoff team and he can be replaced next year.

Sign him under 2M per before trade deadline. If he doesn't want to sign here, trade him.

If I was PG, my goal next year would be to have a 4th line that looks like this :

White-Gaustad-Moen

Toughness and Energy. Sincere players that can chip for a few goals and play on the PK.

No more Darche, Nokkelelelneneiennein, Weber (or any other D) and AHL players on the 4th line. Enough with that crap.

Kosto was amazing. I'd take him back with open arms before darche.

Jackman would be good as well, he's good defensively.

I loved Kosto, but amazing is not the word I would use. He has 0 offensive output. Still a heart and soul guy.

Best idea would actually be to listen to offers...
Actually, WE NEED DEPTH. BADLY.

Not trading him would be a very bad idea.
Just have a sign him, or a similar player, this summer.

The PP is not just about markov, we need a creative winger like Semin or Hemsky to help run the PP. Cammalleri used to be pretty good at it until this yaer and before that, Kovalev.

You're sullying the word when you use it to describe Kostopoulos.
