FWIW, I know Murr personally and there's no way he was waived because of some issues "behind the scenes". He's an extremely dedicated and professional dude... pretty much a perfect teammate.
That means that DW truly doesn't think he's good enough to play on your 4th line or it's a precursor to something else. Or maybe DW thought he'd sneak him through waivers on a day when Hamill and Stewart were already on waivers. Anyone know the order that these players were placed on waivers? Just because he got waived doesn't necessarily mean he'll be sent down. Maybe it's just a move to maintain some flexibility going into the trade deadline...
Desi has been injured or playing on the top line for around the last 12 games. Wingels came up around the same time and he and Murray have been swapped in and out since. Winchester has 2 of his 6 goals in that time period. Murray played in one of those games and Wingels in the other. The fourth lines has not been useless since he's been on/off it.
He will in all likelihood pass through waivers and can then be called up anytime.
The fourth line has been outshot 29-13 at even strength since Murray's last game. Some of that is Desjardins not being on it but a lot of that is also the absence of A. Murray.
I heard from a reliable source who is a friend of a friend of Burns and Sheppard, who told me that apparently TOM, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, refused to play MW3 with Burns, Sheppard, and McGinn.
I have a feeling this is why there was such a huge rift between the team+management and TOM.
(sarcasm)
I wouldnt wanna play with that camping "grab your controller when im losing" ****er myself. lol
Now there may be something else going on, but peoples opinion of TOM seems way out of whack to me. Of course he'd have some chemistry with the fourth line. He's had 41 games to get there. But his production is almost non existent and surely someone else can fill that position.
Wingels 9 Games 1/1 .22 PPG
Murray 41 Games 1/3 .10 PPG
McCarthy 4 Games 0/0 .00 PPG
I feel the same way. Not really sure why hes been getting so much praise this year. He has what, 1G and 3A, in 41 games. Sure is decent on the fore check, but that is about it.
When TOM was brought in, he was supposed to be a solid PK'er. He was part of the initial PK team and they sucked. He got removed and continued his fairly solid 4th line showing but nothing great. Once they realized he wasnt part of the PK team, his flexibility on the team wasnt as high. With Vandy's ability to play 4th line on occasion, I think his time was up. McCarthy hasnt shown much either IMO. Losing Desi on the 4th also has upset the candy kart. I trust DW in his moves. He has done so many moves the right way, we just have to wait this out and see where it takes us.
admittedly, what can you expect from "depth" though? weve seen a few of our forwards jump into the top 6 :desi, ferriero, mcginn and produce points, not at the rate of an actual top 6 guy, but enough to keep us first in our division.
I think we would think more of our depth had just havlat went out, and we still had clowe up there for the majority of this recent stretch of games.
There is nothing behind the scenes... They were able to come up with one set play with A Murray. Other then that can any of you think of anything else Murray does for the team? Anything else that a guy like McCarthy can't provide.... anything? The guy has played more the 50 games once in his career.
The Mitchell haters are way off base. Mitchell does provide value in certain situations. Whether or not he is worth his entire contract is another argument.
My guess is the Sharks will acquire Murray's replacement.
