Kesler is much better for his salary than Nash, no way

and if CBJ can't keep Weber long term? If Weber has said he wants to leave NSH because he wants to win, what chance would CBJ have in keeping him?

Why are Leafs interested? Nash is not a center. I thought Leafs wanted center

VAN would not do this.. CBJ might. I would as a CBJ and Kesler fan in a couple minutes after thinking about nash with the sedins.

kesler is a guy you build a team around, nash is a guy who you compliment a guy like kesler with. kesler also played for ohio state so that would help with the marketing mess that would be trading nash.

would do Nash+CBJ 2nd+Calvert (31st overall) to balance it a bit

He must be raking in the dough for all the hits he's getting on his website right now... I'm surprised he didn't add a couple other Canadian teams to the mix...

Sure the can.

Say,

Hjalmarsson
Beach
Morin
2 1sts

for

Nash

Thats 4.3mil taken from our 6+ mil in cap space.

They could easily afford it, but it's very unlikely they have any interest.

Nash's cap hit is close to 2 million higher than the Sedins and nearly 3 million higher than Kesler. Very hard to see Gillis bringing in a guy like Nash to upset the pay structure.

There are some reasons it would be a good idea (Rick Nash needs to be in a competitive/Canadian market and would blow up with the Sedins), but there are more reasons why it won't happen. Can't bring in a guy with that contract and under-cut the rest of the guys that have earned their deals, and can't give up Hodgson in that kind of deal. Not a chance he comes to Vancouver.

Where has this been confirmed other than by some BS "source".

If you disregard Weber, then yes. I'm pretty sure Weber would rather play in Vancouver than Columbus. Not sure about any of his contract clauses though.

As much as I love Nash I'd have a really hard time seeing his contract on the Canucks. It'd also go against Gillis' philosophy of not doing major tinkering midseason, I see this more as a draft day deal if it's even possible and the Canucks would have to convince Luongo to waive his NTC.

Just for kicks though...

Nash
Sanford

Luongo
Raymond
Schroeder
1st rounder

Enough value from Vancouver? Depends on how you view Luongo's value but both contracts are lengthy and pricey.
Luongo is not on the table. I don't care how much Canucks fans hate him, he is a key player on this team and will not be moved, period.

I don't see those teams getting him...it ust doesn't work cap wise.

Like what would Vancouver have to send back? A lot for not only the value of Nash but also the cap space. But then...what could they send back that Columbus would want? Then what could Vancouver afford to give up for him that would make them a better team?

Kings maybe...Toronto, same as Van. Hawks, no way.

Kings aren't going to bow to Columbus' asking price.

Brown, Johnson, a 1st and a top prospect, gtfo.

Sure it would be great to get a e.staal or getzlaf but if the leafs can't get a center better then what they have then why not go for a winger with size. Kulemin,Grabo and Nash would be a awesome line.

Why? Our team(LA) can't score anyway. We'll score 1-2 goals a game with Nash rather than 0-1.

Hmm, why not? Brown's numbers have seriously declined over the past couple of years, Johnson is beyond overrated, so is a 1st round pick, and we can offer Vey or some **** as the prospect.

The salary evens out. It's not that pricey once you break it down.

Is it mandatory to include the Leafs in all trade rumors involving a player that is slightly above average or better?

Nash in Vancouver making 1.7 mil more than two Art-Ross winners. I bet the whole team is happy with that. Edler and Burrows becomes UFAs in two years time and both deserves significant raise. Also, Hogdson becomes RFA in two years time. Say hello to cap hell with Nash in two years time.

They have?
07-08 60pts
08-09 53pts
09-10 56 pts
10-11 57 pts.

Not sure how that is looked at as a serious decline in numbers.

With Eklund being in the title of the thread, we all know entering the thread it is an eklund rumour.

We all have the choice to enter the thread at our own perill.

I share the same sentiment as you do, but as long as eklund is in the thread title I at least know what kind of rumour I am viewing.

Nash's cap hit compared to his production absolutely blows. That contract sucks beyond all belief.
