Brett Lebda Out "Multiple Weeks"

Per Smith's Twitter:

Quote:
Brett Lebda will undergo procedure on Monday to repair damaged right thumb. Said he could miss multiple weeks.
I guess Goloubef gets the call with Nikitin and Wisniewski still out.

From now on when the Jackets acquire a player, first thing they should do is whack them with a hammer and put them on IR

Too bad - I thought Lebda had played decently thus far. So for the Minnesota game the Jackets will have a defense of Tyutin, Moore, Methot, Clitsome, Johnson and Savard. Good luck Sanford.

At this point, I am ready to sacrifice a chicken, ala Major League, to exorcise the demons that are following the CBJ.

Goloubef is just returning from a finger injury himself and has only played 2 games since December.

It's amazing how much can go wrong in a season.

Other than Goloubef the pickings are slim here in Springfield. Ruth and Regner are ECHL quality and Prout makes mistakes that are glaring.

Might as well just sign someone else off of the scrapheap.

I'd managed to forget about that. I'm beginning to suspect we have the largest number of defenseman games lost to injury at both the NHL and AHL levels.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

I'm hoping for Regner to get a call-up only because he would be the 5th 2008 CBJ draft pick to make his NHL debut. It's only a matter of time before Goloubef does as well (he'd be #6). That's the Filatov draft, but the Jackets also landed Kubalik, Calvert and Atkinson that year. Pretty decent. Regner likely will not be resigned, so this is the only chance that a player like him would have to play in the NHL.

When do we start calling up ECHL players?

(Insert "the team is already full of ECHL players" joke here)

Two more injuries - at either level - ought to do it.

Too bad there is only one CBJ signed d-man on our ECHL team. This is a bad situation.
