Top 10 "He Really Has That Many Points?"

Hey Devils fans, thought you might be interested in who I put at #1 on my list of players that make you ask "he really has that many points?." His production is certainly no surprise to you, but for people around the league it might be.

Hit the nail on the head on "one of the most under appreciated star players of his generation." Patty is awesome.

I think most of us knew without even looking that it would be Patty. He's been a quiet force for the Devils this season, and at his age, that's very impressive.

I've said it time and time again...if you make a most underrated list for the past decade+ I think Elias is #1.

For the Devils.

His 2nd half of last year and this long PPG stretch this season has Elias back in the 1000 point hunt, necessary for him to at least be considered a possibility for the HOF.

A few years ago, it didnt seem likely he could hit 1000.

EDIT: Looked it up out of curiosity, he's currently #107 all-time with 867 points. The "he really has that many points" surprise for me on that list was Jason Arnott, number #90 all-time with 928 points.

I'm not surprised that he's doing so well this year.

The moment the Devils signed his close friend and ex-teammate(now teammate) Petr Sykora, his Career has achieved a Rennaisance(sp?).

He'd certainly be at the top of the list thats for sure. I dont really understand why either. I mean, everyone knows he is a great player but he is never gushed over the way other players with similar career stats are. Its almost like everyone just says "ya he is a great player..." and thats it, where as others are discussed at great length.

He's been my favorite Devils Forward easily since 99/00. I thought he was finally getting to the point of winding down point wise about 2 or 3 years ago. He's almost topped last years goal scoring akready! No surprise, because even Clarkson, and Zubrus have! I thought maybe playing with Sykora might have helped, but even on that line with Kovy, and Zach he's become big. Not so much goal wise, but assist wise oh yeah.

I think he has as many points as he did this time in 2000/2001. He had 40 goal, 56 assists, and 96 points that season. His most productive, and definitely in the top 4 for players that season. He might have a point or two less than he did this time in 00/01, but what's the difference really?

When David Clarkson is a 20 goal scorer, Dainius Zubrus has topped last years goals, and on just about matched his best Devils season, and 35 year old Patrik Elias is putting up as many points as he did as 24 year old Patrik Elias, and has about a point per game, and everyone else producing the way they should or are expected, then you really start to realize the Devils have A LOT of Offensive depth.

The top one was not exactly a surprise to Devils fans, but it was certainly a good read besides. Thanks for swinging by with it.

It's because he is modest.

It's because he's a lifer for a team that was always known for its defence first mentality, and not its forwards, even though somebody had to be scoring the goals. The fact that he fit into that system with his two-way play, while still putting up great point totals, is very impressive.

Glad to see one of my favorite players, Martin Erat, made the list.

I had Ryan O'Reilly 10th on my list for the draft that year. I was shocked to see him drafted in the second round.
