Intense bench clearing brawl

Montreal VS Boston Nov. 8th 1970. One two minute minor for tripping and three fighting majors per team for a total of 32 PIMS.

How is that even possible? Did the ref's pen run out of ink?

Other fallout from this game: $3000 in fines. No suspensions. $371 of equipment was stolen from the Habs dressing room when thieves cut a hole in the ceiling!

'Cause most of the fight was between Habs fans and fans...tough to give fans some penalty minutes....

I watched the video before I read the stats, then laughed my ass off. But who knows nowadays with the Justice system of the NHL these days.

Even so... how does Cheevers not even get a minor penalty in all that?


BTW, is it Guy Lapointe sitting on the bench toward the end? Whoever it is, looks like Reggie Dunlop toward the end of "Slap Shot".
