As excited as I am to see them play, Brodin and Granlund worry me, especially Granlund. Both are relatively small players and Granlund has already had at least one concussion. I'm worried that one bad hit on Granlund could end his career before it even starts and I think Brodin needs to bulk up if he wants to be effective. We already have a small puck moving d-man in Spurgeon. Hopefully Brodin can get stronger and be more physical than Spurgy.

Mario Lucia and tDon spent their Sunday in Indy.

Also, good for Coyle although as a 20 year-old playing in the Q he best be killing youngins.

Larsson's looking good. Heating up while Granlund cools down.

Looks like Nick Seeler got traded to the Des Moines Buccaneers. Muskegon or Des Moines, which would you prefer? Anyways, he went 1g 1a 10pim in 2 games with a -3. Must have woke him up.

And Josh Caron finally scored with his new team.

As horrible as Iowa is, I'd much rather be in Des Moines. While the "big city" attitude of the residents gets grating after about 20 seconds, at least it's only a little over two hours to MSP.

Looks like Michalek's GAA and Sv% are improving pretty well. How bad is Harvard though?

Bah. I've lived in Iowa City, IA and New York, NY.

Iowa City >>>>>> NYC. Dead serious.

I can only imagine how terrible they are with 6 wins in 20 games. And I don't think Michalek played the first few weekends. I was thinking though how good that place would be for his development, but I don't know enough about goalies. Maybe you can't screw them up too bad at that age, or maybe they have a great goalie coach or something.

Iowa City's a college town (and the Hawkeyes suck).

The people of Des Moines quite literally believe 1) Des Moines is "a big city"™ 2) that you care that it's "a big city"™, 3) that everyone knows people from Des Moines are from "a big city"™ and 4) that being from "a big city"™ makes them way better than anyone from "a small town"

Most. Obnoxious. Behavior. Ever.

Likewise, I know very little about goalie development, but I'd think facing a ton of shots (even if your team ends up getting destroyed a lot) might be better for development than being on a dominating team where you only see 15-20 shots a night. I'd imagine being on an average team that sees 30-35 shots against a night of the average variety is probably the best development scenario though. I guess it's nothing new for Michalek though, considering how his high school team was.

Haha, I get to "travel" to Des Moines next month for a few days. Should be a blast.

Granlund never had a concussion, he had whiplash, which was for some reason reported as concussion.

Didn't Granlund have a concussion last season when he missed his check and hit the boards?

it was first diagnosed as concussion, but it was later confirmed it was just whiplash.

Interesting, never heard of that. I did know that he had a whiplash injury during this season, though.

Most of you guys are probably too young to remember, but Orest Kindrachuk used to wear a whiplash protector when he played:

We should fit Granlund for one of those

Lucia had two more goals and an assist last night. That team has outscored opposing teams 263-101 and has a record of 42-3-0-2...

Um...

They also set some sort of league record for consecutive wins. Boy is playing for the Wild and losing every night going to be a shock for Lucia.

I'm sure Notre Dame will serve as a nice reminder of what real hockey is like.
