All kidding aside. Vlasic is a great dman and I couldn't believe how ready some of you were to get rid of him over the summer (I remember some Comeau+ for Vlasic proposals from Shark fans).
If we trade any of our young guys up front it would probably be for a dman (who is NHL ready) and quite frankly I don't see any on your roster that are both quality and someone the Sharks would be willing to part with.
22 yr old Bailey's offense isn't good enough for him to take the 2nd line cener spot. He's solid defensively on the 3rd line and pk.His $1m salary and age fit into the isles rebuild. He shows just enough flashes to keep the isles intrigued and isn't blocking a more deserving youngster.
Bailey's trade value won't return the young, top 4 d-man the isles would want. They won't move him for a short term pick up ,picks or prospects.
I don't see a match because the isles have no reason to move him, unless they love the return and SJ has no reason to overpay.
What the Isles would want for Bailey the Sharks wouldnt be willing to give up...no way the Sharks should give up Pickles or Demers for in a deal where Bailey is the main piece, that would be a major steal for the Isles
Is this Groundhog Day?
Isn't this a repeat of a thread posted less then a week ago, with the same posters ?
1st SF fan:how about Nielsen+3rd for Murray?
1st NYI fan:sounds good.Nielsen might not re-sign and Murray is not a ufa until 2013.
2nd SJ fan:I'd rather have Bailey for Murray.
2nd NYI fan:deal
1st NYI fan:Snow's in the 4th yr of a youth movement and saying trades have to make sense for both the longterm and short term. Trading 22 yr old Bailey for 1 and 1/2 yrs of 32 yr old Murray, makes no sense longterm. At worst Bailey is a defensively solid 3rd liner and pk player ,making a reasonable $1m per.
