Their entire media corps that folows them locally are arrogant punks, self congratulatory and drunk on the fact that they always have the Comcast money to splurge on the shiny FA. Charchid, Misenelli, Morganti, Panachio, Cataldi seem to all share this same "look down teir noses" approach to lesser franchises and are shocked when their team takes a beating. They always spend to the cap to buy (and draft well) a very competitive team, yet always find a way to lose in the playoffs.
These media types need to take a step back and look in the mirror before throwing tar around. The standard of success in the NHL is winning the Stanley Cup. The last time it was done in Philly was 1975.
They do not need to be so dismissive of other teams players that are trying and whose salary structure is challenged. Their own on air announcers do much better.
For a "sports writer" to use the very cheap and insulting "lowly" should be beneath them when conveying the idea that the Isles are not at this time a contender. They could use many other, more respectful phrases to describe our up and coming condition.
We are what we are, but we dont need these guys constantly reminding us of it and rubbing our faces in it. Self loathing Islander fans are just as bad. We stick with this team and hope for change for the better, but dont enjoy getting slapped in the face or dissed gratuitiously.
